China's first international green trade service platform was launched

On October 19, 2023, at the first Dual Carbon Service Conference and Carbon Management System Partner Conference, Shanghai Environmental Exchange, together with SGS CSTC Standard Technical Services Co., Ltd., DNV Supply Chain and Product Certification Group, TÜV SÜD Greater China Group, BSI British Standards Institution, CTI Certification Co., Ltd., KPMG China and China Energy Conservation Association, jointly released the International Green Trade Service Platform (hereinafter referred to as the "Service Platform"), marking the official launch of the first international green trade service platform in China.

The service platform is a new idea and new path put forward by Shanghai Environmental Exchange under the current new situation of international green trade, combined with the new requirements, new changes and new risks faced by enterprises in the environmental and supply chain management links, with enterprises as the core. The main functions of the service platform include: carbon inventory and carbon footprint certification services, carbon neutrality offset services, and carbon label services.

In terms of carbon inventory and carbon footprint certification services, the Shanghai Environmental Exchange has joined hands with six domestic and international authoritative certification bodies to serve the different certification needs of export-oriented enterprises based on the policies of importing countries and the downstream carbon reduction requirements of the supply chain.

In terms of carbon neutrality offset services, the service platform will provide trading services including international emission reduction, international green certificates and other varieties based on the demand for carbon neutrality offsetting in the future, providing a path for enterprises to create low-carbon/zero-carbon products and enhance the market competitiveness of enterprise products.

In terms of carbon labeling services, we will cooperate with international coding agencies to closely follow the domestic and international carbon labeling systems, innovate and explore the implementation path of electronic and informatization of carbon labels, support the full life cycle of traded products and the disclosure of relevant emission reduction and offset information, and explore mutual recognition mechanisms for carbon labels with international organizations.

The service platform has the following characteristics: first, digitalization, empowering green trade with digital, supporting enterprises to use information platforms to carry out carbon management, and improving the comprehensive strength of enterprises; The second is authoritative, supporting the application of internationally recognized professional institutions and standards on the platform; The third is security, the platform uses top-level encryption technology and multiple authority control mechanisms to ensure the security of information and data; Fourth, openness, the platform will bring together partners in multiple fields to jointly build a green trade cooperation mechanism and share cooperation results; Fifth, comprehensiveness, the platform integrates comprehensive carbon inventory, carbon footprint certification, carbon offsetting, carbon labeling and other multi-functions.
