On December 25, 2023, the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences issued the "Announcement on the Winning Projects of the 2023 Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award", and the "Application of Weak Current-mediated Enhanced Water Environment Ecological Restoration Technology" participated by BEWG won the first prize. A total of 59 projects were approved, including 10 first prizes, 47 second prizes, and 2 popular science awards.
In 2022, BEWG won the first prize for "Theory, Technology and Application of Joint Regulation and Quantity of Water Quality and Quantity of Urban Small and Micro Water Bodies and Ecological Restoration", which has won this award for two consecutive years, which is a great affirmation and encouragement to BEWG's ecological restoration work.
The Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award is the highest award in the field of environmental protection science and technology in China, which aims to reward units and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to environmental protection science and technology activities, mobilize the enthusiasm and creativity of environmental protection science and technology workers, and promote the development of environmental protection science and technology. Among them, the first prize is awarded to projects that have major innovations in environmental science and technology, are technically difficult, and the overall technical level and main technical and economic indicators have reached the international advanced level, have been widely used, have achieved major environmental benefits, and have great significance and role in promoting economic development and social progress.
The award-winning project "Application of Weak Current-mediated Enhanced Water Environment Ecological Restoration Technology" was jointly completed by Harbin Institute of Technology, Beijing Enterprises Water and other four units, adopting the technology research and development idea of "based on nature and strengthening nature", and took the lead in establishing a weak-current-mediated enhanced water environment ecological restoration technology system with green, low-carbon, efficient and safe characteristics in the world. Through core technologies such as electronic ectopic compensation, multivariate deep denitrification, and sediment habitat remodeling, the rapid removal of nutrients from water and the protection of water biodiversity can be realized. The related technology has been widely used in tailwater constructed wetlands and damaged surface water remediation projects in different climate regions such as Beijing, Shandong, Guangxi, etc., and has been well received.
On the basis of a large number of R&D and project practices, BEWG has formed a natural purification solution for constructed wetlands featuring full-bandwidth services, stable water quality assurance, intensive innovation, prefabricated delivery, and park-like presentation. The solution makes full use of the natural purification process to significantly reduce the carbon emissions of wastewater treatment, while using reclaimed water resources to improve water biodiversity. Through prefabricated integration, dissolved oxygen regulation, weak current mediation, etc., the treatment capacity of constructed wetland can be greatly improved.
Over the years, BEWG has been deeply engaged in the research and development of technologies and systems related to sewage treatment and ecological restoration, continuously upgraded products and services, continuously strengthened the empowerment of scientific and technological innovation, and accumulated fruitful scientific and technological innovation achievements, which have been widely praised.
