Xiangyang became one of the first pilot cities in the country to peak carbon emissions

On December 6, the National Development and Reform Commission released the list of the first batch of pilot cities and parks for carbon peaking in China, and Xiangyang City was selected as a pilot city. 

In recent years, Xiangyang City has actively promoted the work related to carbon peak and carbon neutrality, organized and carried out carbon peak research, compiled and completed the "Xiangyang City Carbon Dioxide Emission Peak Action Plan Research Report" (first draft), strictly implemented the responsibility of enterprise carbon performance supervision, carried out daily supervision work, supervised enterprises to standardize the management of carbon emission data, and the compliance rate of 32 enterprises included in the national and provincial carbon markets has always maintained 100%. Yuliangzhou Economic Development Zone and Gucheng Economic Development Zone were respectively identified as the province's near-zero carbon commercial and park pilots, with a total investment of 10.8 billion yuan, the "Xiangyang Hanjiang Green Heart Cross-Strait Collaborative Ecological Environment-oriented Development Model Pilot Project" was successfully selected into the second batch of national eco-environment-oriented development model pilot list.

According to the requirements, all pilot cities and parks should earnestly fulfill their main responsibilities, take the pilot construction of carbon peaking as the key to promoting the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development in the region, make overall plans for key tasks, study and launch reform measures, and solidly promote major projects. At the same time, in accordance with the deployment requirements of the "National Carbon Peak Pilot Construction Plan" and the "Guide to the Preparation of the Carbon Peak Pilot Implementation Plan", the pilot implementation plan should be scientifically prepared in combination with its own reality.
