　　The Children's Hospital affiliated to the Capital Institute of Pediatrics will build a new campus. The Municipal Development and Reform Commission recently approved the project proposal of the Tongzhou Branch of the Children's Hospital Affiliated to the Capital Institute of Pediatrics. As a key project in Beijing, the Tongzhou Campus of the Institute of Pediatrics will be completed and put into use in 2026, and after completion, it will realize "one hospital and two sites", and the Tongzhou Campus will become the main hospital area.

　　Founded in 1986, the Children's Hospital Affiliated to the Capital Institute of Pediatrics is a well-known tertiary children's hospital in China. The existing hospital is located in Yabao Road, Chaoyang District, with only 439 open beds and an annual outpatient and emergency volume of about 2.2 million. Parents who have taken their children to the pediatric institute for medical treatment know that not only the existing medical conditions in the hospital are limited, but the surrounding traffic pressure is also extremely prominent, and the medical environment needs to be improved urgently.

　　The approved Tongzhou Campus project of the Institute of Pediatrics is located in Songzhuang Town, Tongzhou District, with a total construction area of 186,400 square meters, including 113,300 square meters of above-ground construction area and 73,100 square meters of underground construction area.

　　"In the future, the Children's Hospital Affiliated to the Capital Institute of Pediatrics will realize the dislocation development of 'one hospital and two sites'. According to the relevant person in charge of the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, after the completion of the project, Chaoyang Hospital will evacuate all scientific research and teaching functions and some medical beds to Tongzhou Hospital, mainly to provide basic medical care and emergency services for children in the core area and surrounding areas;

　　The relevant person in charge said that the construction of the project is an important measure to implement the requirements of Beijing's overall urban planning and relieve non-capital functions, which is conducive to promoting the rational layout of high-quality pediatric medical resources, supplementing the shortcomings of pediatric medical resources in the sub-center of the city, and promoting the overall improvement of the level of pediatric diagnosis and treatment in the surrounding areas.

　　There will be an independent infection building in the Tongzhou campus

　　According to reports, this will be a hospital centered on children's health, and will be carefully designed in terms of spatial layout, functional settings, and scientific research transformation.

　　"After the completion of the new hospital, we will adhere to the patient-centered approach and optimize and improve the patient experience. The relevant person in charge said that the Tongzhou hospital will adopt the MDT (multidisciplinary consultation) modern medical treatment mode, Internet hospital, analysis and optimization of spatial flow lines, etc., to reduce the waiting time of patients and realize more children to seek medical treatment nearby and in real time. At the same time, we should strengthen the separation of doctor-patient flow lines and the reasonable partitioning of pedestrian and vehicle flows to ensure the safety of patients.

　　It is worth mentioning that the Tongzhou hospital will also set up an independent infection building in the southwest corner of the hospital in combination with the characteristics of children with many fevers, so as to avoid affecting other areas.

　　In addition, the new hospital will ensure the allocation of scientific research "hardware", coordinate the establishment of 100 research beds, set up scientific research rooms, experimental areas and research wards to promote the organic integration of scientific research and clinical practice, and implement three-star green building standards to achieve green energy conservation and low-carbon emission reduction.

　　In the future, Tongzhou Campus will rely on the scientific research advantages of the Capital Institute of Pediatrics to build a three-in-one scientific research model of "from basic research, clinical research to scientific research transformation" to promote the coordinated development of medicine and industry. After relieving the scientific research and teaching functions and some medical beds, the Chaoyang Hospital will realize the optimization of functions and medical treatment streamlines, improve the medical environment, enhance the service guarantee capacity of children in the central urban area and surrounding areas, and reduce the traffic and urban governance pressure brought by the surrounding areas.

The "Beijing Municipal Special Plan for Medical and Health Facilities (2020-2035)" proposes to build the Tongzhou Campus of the Capital Institute of Pediatrics and the new campus of Beijing Children's Hospital in Songzhuang Town, Tongzhou and Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, respectively.
