Ningbo's largest passenger terminal, Beilun Zhitou Passenger Ferry Terminal, opened shore power to help "green Spring Festival"

Recently, Ningbo Beilun Zhitou Car and Passenger Ferry Terminal completed the first ship shore power connection, marking the successful operation of the green shore power project of Ningbo's largest passenger terminal, laying the foundation for the construction of "zero-carbon smart" terminals and adding green kinetic energy to the Spring Festival.

It is understood that in order to reduce air pollution, ships that call at the port for two hours or more must be connected to shore power. At about 18 o'clock on the same day, the "Zhoudu No. 15", which docked at the berth on the east side of the Beilun Zhitou Car and Passenger Ferry Wharf, changed the previous way of burning heavy oil and met the energy demand of the ship during the port call through the shore power system.

Ningbo Beilun Zhitou Car and Passenger Ferry Terminal is open to navigation in Ningbo and Yongzhou, which can transport 426,000 cars and 1.261 million passengers every year, which is the largest waterway passenger terminal in Ningbo City, and it is expected that during the Spring Festival, Shitou Car and Passenger Ferry Terminal will transport nearly 100,000 passengers. According to statistics, the carbon emissions generated by the auxiliary generators during berth account for 40% to 70% of the total carbon emissions of the port. The shore power of the terminal can enable the ship to turn off the diesel engine during berthing and switch to shore-based power supply for power supply, which can effectively solve the problem of exhaust emissions and noise pollution caused by traditional fuel power generation, and achieve zero fuel consumption, zero emission and zero noise during the berthing of the ship. At present, Shitou Wharf is equipped with 6 sets of shore power equipment with an installed capacity of 360 kilowatts, which can charge 6 ships at the same time. Compared with the traditional oil-fired power generation model, it is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 1,301.8 tons, sulfur dioxide by 1.7 tons and nitrogen oxides by 22 tons per year.

In the next step, Ningbo Beilun Zhitou Passenger Ferry Terminal will build a digital management platform to explore clean energy substitution for the wharf and contribute to the green and low-carbon development of regional ports.
