On February 29, the original Huoshishan domestic waste disposal site was no longer what it used to be. The Hubei Daily all-media reporter saw that the site was undergoing greening and soil covering, flood interception ditch construction and arbor planting, and there was no trace of domestic garbage.
In March 2019, the Xiangyang Municipal Government launched the ecological restoration project of the Huoshishan Domestic Waste Treatment Site, which was included in the national groundwater pollution prevention and control project database.
The garbage disposal site was built in 1991 and covers an area of 127 acres, of which about 100 acres are landfilled, and 680,000 cubic meters of domestic waste have been landfilled since its operation. Without the protection of impermeable membranes, the leachate produced by the garbage spreads out and contaminates the surrounding soil and water.
The ecological restoration project combines the requirements of groundwater pollution prevention and control and ecological restoration of treatment sites, and harmlessly treats the garbage and leachate from underground landfills, and develops and constructs ecological country parks with the theme of environmental protection education. After completion, it will become the first popular science education base in Xiangyang to publicize urban solid waste treatment and water pollution prevention and control to citizens.

"The old equipment from the 80s in front of us accounts for 70% of the entire plant. Xiao Kaizhou, the relevant person in charge of environmental management of the company's safety technology and environmental protection room, said that since 2017, the old plant has spent more than 40 million yuan on environmental transformation of the old plant equipment, and the particulate matter emission control has been effective but not obvious and cannot be cured.
In order to meet the growing market demand and the country's stricter emission requirements, Dongfeng Casting decided to close the old factory and rebuild the new factory.
On February 15, the old plant was officially shut down.
The company has invested 920 million yuan to build a new generation of green foundry intelligent factory: build a new information system to monitor the operation status of key equipment and important process parameters in real time; robots complete a number of operations, the automation rate has increased to more than 68%, and the logistics distance has been optimized by more than 60%; advanced environmental protection equipment has been equipped to treat waste gas, so that the particulate matter emission of the new factory has been reduced from 30mg/m³ to 9mg/m³; and the photovoltaic roof laid on the top of the workshop has an average annual power generation of 11.25 million KWh......
The Hubei Daily all-media reporter walked into the new factory and found that the large factory in front of him was covered with a small plant, and the closure measures were extremely strict, and the dust in the air was sucked away by the "smoke machine", and the deposition of dust was transported through the conveyor belt, not letting go of any dead ends. Waste sand is directly recycled without leaving the plant, and the recycling rate is 75%.
"It can not only reduce pollution, ensure stable supply, but also strengthen the advantages of enterprises in the green supply chain. Xiao Kaizhou said that it is expected that the commissioning of the equipment will be completed in late March and can be put into production.

Hubei Huadian Xiangyang Power Generation Co., Ltd. has invested more than 1.1 billion yuan to build 6 sets of denitrification facilities, upgraded 6 units of desulfurization and dust removal facilities, and completed the ultra-low emission transformation of all units, with a desulfurization efficiency of more than 99%, a denitrification efficiency of more than 90%, and a dust removal effect of 99.5%, with significant emission reduction effects.
Since last year, Xiangyang City has strictly implemented the total amount control requirements, and has reduced a total of 3,300 tons of nitrogen oxides, 1,578 tons of volatile organic compounds, 8,100 tons of chemical oxygen demand, 234 tons of ammonia nitrogen, and 143 tons of total phosphorus. The annual emission rights trading volume was more than 12.15 million yuan, 2.7 times that of 2022. Actively promote the extension of the chain of the circular economy industry, with 91 enterprises above the designated size, the total annual output value of the above-scale industry reaching nearly 40 billion yuan, the comprehensive utilization rate of phosphogypsum reaching more than 61%, and two near-zero carbon emission demonstration projects are progressing in an orderly manner.
