The Sichuan Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the National Climate Strategy Center

Recently, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (hereinafter referred to as the National Center for Climate Change). The two sides made it clear that they will work together to promote the implementation of the national strategy of actively responding to climate change in Sichuan, and jointly promote the construction of Sichuan Province as a pilot zone for beautiful China and green development.

In recent years, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment has placed its response to climate change in a prominent position, and has continued to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the National Climate Strategy Center. After the National Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change 2035 was promulgated, with the support of the National Climate Strategy Center, Sichuan Province released the country's first provincial action plan, was invited to participate in international exchange activities such as the "China Corner" of the China-Germany, China-Europe and the United Nations Climate Change Conference, and participated in the "Research on the Implementation of China's Nationally Determined Contributions" funded by the Children's Investment Fund. At the same time, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment selected outstanding technical personnel from directly affiliated units to exchange Xi at the National Climate Strategy Center, and regularly invited experts from the National Climate Strategy Center to participate in policy and technical research on climate investment and financing, carbon market, statistical accounting, and climate-resilient cities in Sichuan Province.

According to the agreement, the two sides will give priority to the selection of areas where both sides are willing, foundational, and in demand in accordance with the principles of highlighting key points, giving priority to the easy before the difficult, and taking into account both internal and external aspects, focusing on the three major directions of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, pollution reduction and carbon reduction coordination, and adaptation to climate change, and carry out cooperation in the aspects of party building guidance, planning system, accounting assessment, market mechanism, climate resilience, foreign exchanges, and capacity building, and strive to form a number of influential cooperation results, so as to provide more local support and highlights for the realization of the nationally determined contribution goals. At the same time, we will promote a smoother cooperation mechanism, richer cooperation content, and more diverse cooperation methods.
