Baoying started the construction of "carbon neutral malt factory"

The reporter learned from Baoying County, Jiangsu Province on January 9 that the local major project Yuehai Yongshuntai (Baoying) Malt Co., Ltd. took the lead in launching the construction of "carbon neutral malt factory" in the same industry in China, marking a substantial step forward for Baoying to create a green and low-carbon development demonstration zone in Lixiahe.

The plenary meeting of the Baoying County Party Committee held recently proposed that this year efforts will be made to create more new models in the development of the county, reflect a higher degree of identity, and accelerate the launch of a number of pioneering and leading innovative practices. The Guangdong Yongshuntai (Baoying) malt plant completed the establishment of a greenhouse gas emissions inventory after joining the supply chain decarbonization project last year. The factory has developed a carbon neutrality and net-zero emission roadmap, continuously optimizes the process, prioritizes emission reduction within the organization, strengthens carbon removal within the organization, and implements carbon offsetting. At present, the GDH Yongshuntai (Baoying) malt plant has signed a 100% green power agreement in 2024 and has achieved 100% steam supply from biomass boilers. Relying on the circular economy chain of the park, the plant's biomass boiler ash will also be reused as flower soil, thereby reducing industrial waste emissions. The "carbon-neutral malt plant" will be accepted at the end of this year.

Taking the provincial pilot of the ecological product value realization mechanism as an opportunity, Baoying County also actively explores and promotes the market-based trading of pollutant discharge rights, energy use rights, water rights and carbon emission rights, establishes and improves the green and low-carbon circular development economic system, and continuously improves the green content of industrial development.
