The Autonomous Region's Department of Ecology and Environment sent staff to participate in the China Carbon Market Conference

The China Carbon Market Conference 2023 Shanghai, jointly organized by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the Hubei Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, was held in Shanghai on November 8, 2023. Chen Jining, Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, Huang Runqiu, Minister of Ecology and Environment, and Wang Zhonglin, Deputy Secretary of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Hubei Province, delivered speeches, and jointly launched the conference with Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Mayor. Xie Zhenhua, China's Special Envoy for Climate Change, delivered a video message. Zhao Yingmin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Li Zheng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Secretary-General of the Municipal Party Committee, Zhang Wentong, Vice Governor of Hubei Province, Huang Zhen, Wang Jinnan, He Kebin, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the conference. Representatives from relevant countries and international institutions, representatives of government departments of various provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, representatives of domestic and foreign carbon market trading institutions, enterprises, third-party institutions of the carbon market, financial institutions, and relevant experts and scholars in the field of carbon from universities and research institutes attended the conference.

With the theme of "Building a Carbon Emission Trading Market and Promoting the Realization of Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality", the conference comprehensively demonstrated the effectiveness of the construction of the national carbon market, created a "new business card" for international exchanges and cooperation on climate change, demonstrated China's responsibility to implement the national strategy of actively responding to climate change and promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind, and accelerated the construction of a more effective, dynamic and internationally influential carbon market. The conference will also set up three sub-venues to discuss the positive role of market mechanisms in controlling greenhouse gas emissions, corporate emission reduction and low-carbon transformation, carbon market and climate investment and financing, etc., to promote industry exchanges and deepen international cooperation.

During the meeting, the relevant responsible persons of the Climate Department of the Autonomous Region attended the entire agenda of the conference, and reported to the relevant responsible comrades and experts of the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation on Guangxi's participation in the construction of the national carbon market, as well as the progress of actively promoting the research on sugarcane carbon sinks and eucalyptus carbon sinks, and striving to incorporate them into the national CCER trading system.

After the conference, on the 9th, Ou Bo led a team to the Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange to investigate and learn more about the construction process and experience of China's carbon market, and discussed future cooperation with the relevant responsible comrades of the Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange.
