Tsinghua University and China Unicom Group investigated the Shanghai Environmental Exchange

On September 15, 2023, Chi Yongsheng, Secretary-General of the Global Securities Market Research Institute of Tsinghua University (hereinafter referred to as "Tsinghua Securities Research Institute"), and Li Weibing, Deputy General Manager of China Unicom Group Payment Company (hereinafter referred to as "Unicom Pay"), visited the Shanghai Environmental Exchange. Bin Hui, deputy general manager of Shanghai Environmental Exchange, received Chi Yongsheng and Li Weibing and their entourage. The three parties conducted in-depth exchanges on the construction of carbon management system, Unicom Group's dual carbon strategy, and Tsinghua Securities Research Institute's dual carbon academic research.

Chi Yongsheng expressed his gratitude to the Shanghai Environmental Exchange for its warm reception and briefly introduced the development of Tsinghua Securities Research Institute. He said that Tsinghua Securities Research Institute has carried out a number of dual-carbon-related research in academic research on carbon neutrality, and has formed a number of highly innovative and practical research results. As a university-level scientific research institution of Tsinghua University, Tsinghua Securities Research Institute aims to build a high-level, forward-looking and international new think tank with Chinese characteristics that integrates government, industry, academia and research, and strives to become a new benchmark for research and consulting in Chinese and global securities markets.

Li Weibing briefly introduced the development of China Unicom Group and Unicom's payment business. Li Weibing said that China Unicom has innate advantages in carbon monitoring and carbon management, and should accelerate the pace of research and practice in the field of carbon neutrality with authoritative regulators and academic institutions, empower enterprises in various industries with high-quality development through the group's efforts to gather digital and financialization tools, and help the national dual carbon goal be achieved.

Bin Hui warmly welcomed the visit of Tsinghua University and China Unicom Group, briefly introduced the basic situation of the Shanghai Environmental Exchange and the development of the national carbon trading market, and focused on the relevant situation of the EATNS carbon management system and carbon credit evaluation system, as well as the development direction of the next EATNS carbon management system. He said that the Shanghai Environmental Exchange has cooperated with Changzhou, Xuzhou, Taizhou and other cities to promote the participation of many enterprises in the construction of carbon management system. Shanghai Environmental Exchange is currently building an international green trade service platform to help enterprises cope with international trade risks in various fields such as carbon footprint, carbon labeling, and responding to carbon tariffs. In the future, we hope to deepen cooperation with Tsinghua University and China Unicom to jointly promote the dual carbon work of the communications industry.
