Recently, Syngenta (Suzhou) Crop Protection Co., Ltd. (Syngenta Kunshan Factory) was awarded the "Carbon Neutrality Certificate" issued by the Beijing Green ExchangeSyngenta Group builds China's first "zero-carbon factory", aiming to lead the low-carbon transformation of the agricultural industry chain and supply chain.

"Zero-carbon factory"It refers to the carbon emission performance of the factory with zero net emissions through technical energy conservation and emission reduction and carbon credit offsetting in the manufacturing process.

As Syngenta Group's first "zero-carbon factory" in China, Syngenta's Kunshan plant has achieved energy conservation and carbon reduction through refined control of plant equipment and reduced operating energy consumption. From the transformation and upgrading of product packaging, to the refined operation of equipment, to green supply chain management, "green" runs through the entire production management process of Syngenta's Kunshan plant. By building a "zero-carbon factory", Syngenta's Kunshan plant will increase its output value by 17% and reduce its energy consumption and CO2 emission intensity by 11.34% in 2022.

"In 2021, we launched the 'zero-carbon factory' construction and upgrading project, and strengthened the analysis of energy consumption anomalies in key energy-consuming workshops and equipment by introducing measures such as a real-time power monitoring system, and took relevant measures to reduce energy waste in a timely manner. In addition, the plant is actively phasing out high-carbon energy sources, such as using air energy instead of diesel heating furnaces and using pure electric forklifts. At present, we are also starting to build a distributed photovoltaic power generation project, which is expected to generate 330,000 kWh of electricity per year. In the context of global climate change and food security needs, achieving sustainable agricultural development has become a common concern of the whole world. Syngenta Group China is committed to achieving energy conservation and carbon reduction in the production process through technological innovation and industrial upgrading, thereby contributing to the sustainable transformation and development of agriculture. Sinochem Changshan Plant converts the carbon dioxide generated in the production process into liquid carbon dioxide storage tank products through carbon dioxide capture and application technology, achieving annual carbon dioxide recovery of more than 30,000 tons, and Sinochem Yunlong Plant has built a 330,000 tons/year sulfur acid HRS unit to recover and absorb waste heat at low temperatures, increasing the output of acid steam per ton from 1.2 tons to 1.67 tons, saving 20,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 38,000 tons per year.
