The new hospital of the Capital Institute of Pediatrics is located in the sub-center of the city

Recently, the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission approved the project proposal (on behalf of the feasibility study report) of the Children's Hospital Affiliated to the Capital Institute of Pediatrics, adding 800 beds, and all the scientific research and teaching functions have been relieved to this point, and the layout of the Chaoyang Old Hospital is dislocated, and it is expected to be put into use in 2026.
Since its establishment in 1986, the Children's Hospital of the Capital Institute of Pediatrics has gone through 37 years and is a "good hospital" by parents. However, the carrying capacity is limited, and the traffic pressure and urban governance contradictions around the institute are increasing day by day.
The approved Tongzhou Campus project is located in Songzhuang Town, with a total construction area of 186,400 square meters, including 113,300 square meters of above-ground construction area and 73,100 square meters of underground construction area, and the project is planned and constructed according to 800 beds.
As a key project in Beijing, the Institute of Pediatrics will realize "one hospital and two sites" after completion. As the main hospital area, Tongzhou Hospital, on the basis of providing high-quality comprehensive medical services for children in the surrounding areas of the hospital, provides high-level support services for children in the sub-center of the city and the northeast of the city, and carries the functions of the Capital Institute of Pediatrics.
The experience of a child will also be completely different. Cutting-edge diagnosis and treatment concepts and technologies such as "MDT (multidisciplinary consultation) modern medical treatment" and "Internet hospital" will be applied to it, and the spatial flow line will be optimized, the flow of doctors and patients will be separated, and the waiting time of patients will be shortened, and more children will be able to seek medical treatment nearby and in real time. In view of the characteristics of children with many fevers, an independent infection building is also set up in the southwest corner of the hospital to avoid affecting other areas.
As a new project in the sub-center of the city, the new hospital implements three-star green building standards, improves the thermal performance of building maintenance structures, the proportion of green materials applied, and the sound insulation performance of main functional rooms, adopts external shading facilities and water-saving irrigation systems, and will become another benchmark for green energy saving and low-carbon emission reduction.
After the relief, the function of Chaoyang Old Hospital will be optimized, the medical treatment route will be readjusted, and the service guarantee capacity of children in the central urban area and surrounding areas will be improved, which will greatly alleviate the pressure of regional transportation and urban governance.
The reporter learned that the city has initially formed a children's medical and health service system composed of children's specialized hospitals, general hospital pediatrics, and maternal and child health institutions. To promote the balanced distribution of high-quality pediatric medical resources, the "Beijing Municipal Medical and Health Facilities Special Plan (2020-2035)" proposes to build the Tongzhou Campus of the Capital Institute of Pediatrics and the new campus of Beijing Children's Hospital in Songzhuang Town, Tongzhou and Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, respectively. The new campus of Beijing Children's Hospital is carrying out preliminary work for the project. In the future, the two municipal children's hospitals will further play a leading role in protecting children's health.
