On December 27, the China Construction Carbon Credit Ecological Cooperation Conference with the theme of "Green Future, Carbon Seeking Win-Win" was successfully held in Shanghai. At the meeting, the first domestic carbon emission reduction standard for public buildings was released, and the first batch of China's construction carbon credit products were listed.

The "Technical Specification for the Identification of Carbon Emission Reductions in Comprehensive Carbon Reduction and Renovation Projects of Public Buildings" (T/CSES128-2023) released on the spot was initiated by Greenland Jinchuang Technology Group (hereinafter referred to as Greenland Jinchuang), a subsidiary of Greenland Group, and jointly formulated with Shanghai Academy of Quality Management Science, China Construction Research Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Society of Environmental Sciences and other units, drawing on international standards. The standard is a comprehensive carbon emission reduction methodology for public buildings, which aims to ensure that the emission reductions of public buildings are measurable, reportable and verifiable, so that they can meet the scientific and authentic requirements of the voluntary emission reduction mechanism. The standard encourages the use of digital technology to ensure the consistency and reliability of emission reduction data for public buildings. In accordance with the above-mentioned identification standards and the relevant rules of the Guizhou Green Gold Low-Carbon Trading Center, the comprehensive carbon reduction and renovation projects of public buildings and the corresponding carbon emission reductions have been verified and verified by a third-party organization and become China's construction carbon credit products, which can be registered and traded in the Guizhou Green Gold Low-Carbon Trading Center.
According to Xia Zuyi, vice president and secretary general of the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences, this standard is China's first technical standard for identifying emission reductions for low-carbon renovation of public buildings, which is of great significance for the low-carbon transformation of urban and rural buildings and the construction of low-carbon cities in China. The standard has been adopted by the Singapore government in the calculation method of building energy efficiency, and it is planned to carry out mutual recognition of the identification results, which provides important technical support for the construction of building carbon credit ecology.
According to reports, the carbon emissions of the whole process of China's buildings account for about 50% of the country's total carbon emissions, of which the carbon emissions in the building operation stage account for more than 20% of the country's total carbon emissions. Since 2022, Greenland Jinchuang has seized the breakthrough of carbon emission reduction in public buildings, relying on its only domestic environmental rights and interests exchange dedicated to carbon emission reduction in the construction industry - Guizhou Green Gold Low Carbon Trading Center, taking the large-scale energy-saving renovation of existing public buildings and the corresponding voluntary emission reduction value realization as the starting point, integrating high-quality resources related to greenland, continuously expanding ecological partner resources, adhering to standards first, and actively building China Building Carbon Credit, CBCC) develops, verifies, trades, and consumes the whole industrial chain to help the national "dual carbon" strategy.
Geng Jing, Director and CEO of Greenland Group, said that China's construction carbon credit work initiated and led by Greenland has both financial and technological attributes, and will be combined with Greenland's asset operation business, large-scale energy-saving renovation business of public buildings, financial business, technology platform and digital technology to build a new growth curve of "Greenland Scenario + Digital Technology + Green Finance". In the future, Greenland will continue to practice the ESG concept, actively expand the sources and consumption scenarios of building carbon credit assets, and continuously expand the scale of construction carbon credit trading and social benefits. Based on China's construction carbon credits, we will continue to explore the innovation of green financial products; It will also continue to deepen international exchanges and cooperation, explore the establishment of an international compliance and emission reduction mechanism for public buildings, and contribute green space solutions and green space wisdom to continue to promote the green and low-carbon development of the global building sector and actively respond to the global climate crisis.
The conference also organized the official listing ceremony of the first batch of China's construction carbon credit products, "Greenland Intelligence" and "Holding Building". The two products were developed by the overall energy-saving renovation project of The QUBE Hotel Xuzhou Greenland and the smart energy management project of Shanghai Chengtou Holding Building, respectively, and Beijing Carbon Technology Co., Ltd. and China Metallurgical Testing and Certification (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. served as the verification and verification institutions of the projects.

Wu Qizhou, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment and a first-class inspector, said that the transformation and development of the construction industry to achieve near-zero emissions and climate resilience has become a new normal. The level of green and low-carbon development in Shanghai's construction sector has been steadily improved, and the regulatory system has been increasingly improved. In the future, Shanghai will continue to implement the central and national "dual carbon" strategic deployment, expand and strengthen and serve China's construction carbon credit ecological cooperation, continue to export successful experience cases to the whole country, and contribute Shanghai solutions and wisdom to continue to promote the green and low-carbon development of the global construction field.
The conference was hosted by Greenland Jinchuang and co-organized by the Shanghai Society of Environmental Sciences.
