The 2023 World Geothermal Congress aims for "zero carbon"

　　On August 15, on the first National Ecology Day, the 2023 World Geothermal Congress announced that it would introduce carbon neutrality projects to neutralize the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the conference and achieve "zero carbon conference" through innovative solutions such as carbon asset purchases. It is reported that the conference will be held on September 15~17 at the National Convention Center.

　　The conference practiced "green geothermal Clean Earth", hydrogen vehicles will be vigorously used in transportation; In terms of catering services, biodegradable plastic bags and lunch boxes will be fully used to accurately count the number of participants and avoid food waste; In the organization of the conference, environmentally friendly special paper will be used, and the use of paper will be reduced from the source through small program registration and sign-in, paperless office system, etc. At the same time, the conference advocated participants to take public transportation and participate in the CD-ROM action, called on participants to devote themselves to the specific practice of energy conservation and carbon reduction, and promoted green and low-carbon lifestyles to the public.

　　On this basis, the conference will be guided by "post-conference neutralization" to achieve "zero-carbon meeting". The preparatory group of the meeting entrusted Sinopec Carbon Technology Co., Ltd. to follow the "PAS The 2060-2014 Carbon Neutrality Demonstration Specification requires that emission reduction measures should be designed according to the actual situation in the preparation, holding and closing stages of the meeting, and the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the meeting should be calculated according to certain emission factors and accounting methods, and the actual greenhouse gas emissions generated by the meeting should be offset by purchasing sufficient carbon credits after the meeting.

　　The World Geothermal Congress, known as the "Olympics of Geothermal Physics", has been held for six times so far. The 2023 World Geothermal Congress is hosted by the International Geothermal Association (IGA) and hosted by Sinopec. This is the first time that China has hosted such an international conference. This conference will focus on the hot trends of the global geothermal industry development, and will organize a number of technical activities with the themes of geothermal national reports, market development, cutting-edge technologies, green finance, policies and regulations, and sustainable development. During the conference, the 2023 World Geothermal Congress and Geothermal Energy Development Technology and Equipment Exhibition will be held at the same time, and a number of enterprise signing and brand launch activities in the energy field will be held.
