Jinnan Iron & Steel takes coal gas as a link, strengthens the comprehensive utilization of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, and builds a circular industrial chain of 'steel-coke-chemical-hydrogen + green electricity', and has made beneficial explorations in the coupling of iron and steel metallurgy and chemical industry with low-carbon coordinated development. It is hoped that the industry will do a good job in summarizing experience and creating conditions for subsequent promotion and application. "For a long time, the traditional use of coke oven gas, converter gas and blast furnace gas in the steel industry is combustion or power generation, resulting in high energy consumption and large carbon dioxide emissions in the industry. Zhao Jungui, vice president and secretary general of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, said that the integrated development model of "steel-coke-chemical-hydrogen + green electricity" of Jinnan Iron and Steel is a good exploration and practice, which realizes the optimal allocation of energy and chemical resources and low-carbon development of the whole industrial process, which has typical demonstration significance. In the context of the current green transformation and high-quality development of the industry, the promotion of Jinnan Iron and Steel's integrated development model of "steel-coke-chemical-hydrogen + green electricity" can not only realize the low-carbon coordinated development of the steel, coking and chemical industries, but also provide a useful reference for promoting the coordinated carbon reduction and carbon reduction of the entire industrial production system. At the same time, the hydrogen-rich analytical gas is exported in the process of chemical hydrogen purification, and then returned to the iron and steel enterprises for hydrogen-rich low-carbon smelting in the blast furnace, so as to reduce the coal consumption of the blast furnace process from the source, so as to realize "hydrogen instead of carbon". ——Innovate the new technology of oxidation coupling method of coke oven gas and converter gas to synthesize ethylene glycol. Jinnan Iron & Steel has built the first new production line in China to use converter gas, coke oven gas and other by-product gases to prepare carbon-bearing chemical products such as ethylene glycol, innovatively proposed a new technology for the production of ethylene glycol by oxidation coupling method, and built a cascade deep impurity removal process for the characteristics of coke oven gas and converter gas, forming a new way of using steel by-product gas to produce high value-added chemical products of ethylene glycol, and realizing "carbon sequestration by chemical". ——Forming a new type of deoxidation and desulfurization and carbon monoxide purification technology for converter gas. Jinnan Iron & Steel has developed a new type of deoxidation fine desulfurization and carbon monoxide purification technology of "variable temperature adsorption (TSA) + low-temperature hydrolysis desulfurization + low-temperature conversion deoxidation" of coke oven gas and converter gas, and has been applied in the joint preparation of ethylene glycol from co-production coke oven gas and converter gas, and the total sulfur content, oxygen content, hydrogen content and carbon monoxide content after desulfurization have met the requirements of ethylene glycol production for gas purification components. -- Research and development of low-carbon metallurgical technology for hydrogen-rich gas in blast furnace injection chemical industry. Jinnan Iron & Steel independently designed and built the first 1860 cubic meter blast furnace large-scale injection chemical hydrogen-rich gas industrial application project in China, and developed the triple intelligent safety control technology of "physical self-protection + process self-protection intelligent interlocking + emergency self-protection cut-off" for blast furnace hydrogen injection, realizing long-term stable and efficient blast furnace injection. The use of hydrogen injection to produce molten iron significantly reduces coke consumption and minimizes CO2 emissions. At present, Jinnan Group has mastered and effectively used hydrogen-rich low-carbon smelting technology to realize "hydrogen instead of carbon". ——Form a digital integrated management and control technology for the energy medium of tempered co-production. With the goal of coke oven gas, converter gas co-production of ethylene glycol and LNG, Jinnan Iron & Steel has realized the coupling matching and intelligent scheduling of energy media such as steam and nitrogen in the iron and steel industry and the gas used in chemical production, and the co-disposal and utilization of chemical production wastewater, waste and steel production, realized the balance of materials and energy in the co-production of tempering, and the synergy of material flow and energy flow, effectively reducing carbon dioxide emissions, achieving significant emission reduction effects, and achieving inter-industry coupling cost reduction and collaborative carbon reduction. -- Realize the incremental and gradient utilization of coal gas quality improvement.

In view of the problems of low gas recovery and low carbon monoxide concentration in converter gas recovery, Jinnan Iron and Steel has carried out a research on the quality and efficiency improvement of converter gas that converts the carbon in coke dust removal ash and carbon dioxide in flue gas into carbon monoxide by using the high-temperature waste heat of converter vaporization cooling flue, and effectively utilizes the waste heat of converter vaporization flue, which not only realizes the quality and efficiency improvement and incremental recovery of converter gas, but also realizes the efficient utilization of energy in the converter process system.

This project won the first prize of the 2022 Linfen "Mayor Innovation Award". After Jinnan Iron and Steel applied the integrated co-generation technology of "steel-coke-chemical-hydrogen + green electricity", the company's carbon emissions per ton of steel, comprehensive energy consumption per ton of steel, and comprehensive electricity consumption per ton of steel are at the leading level in the industry, and the emission and energy consumption values are lower than the standard values of the steel industry. Accelerating the green transformation of energy and promoting the high-quality development of the region Hydrogen energy and photovoltaic are recognized as the most ideal clean energy in the world, and are also an important way to promote the reform of the energy structure and achieve the "double carbon" goal. Relying on the full-cycle low-carbon industrial chain of "steel-coke-chemical-hydrogen + green electricity", Jinnan Iron and Steel continuously expands the application scenarios of hydrogen energy, comprehensively lays out photovoltaic green power, and strives to build Jinnan Group into a full-process green steel enterprise through the implementation of hydrogen energy heavy trucks, effectively improving the regional ecological environment and achieving green, low-carbon and high-quality development.

On June 27, 2023, Jinnan Iron and Steel held a delivery ceremony for electric loaders and hydrogen energy heavy trucks, which is an important measure for Jinnan Group to make efforts in the field of new energy again after a batch of hydrogen energy heavy trucks were put into operation in August 2022, and it is also a concrete practice to promote the green transformation and upgrading of energy in an all-round way and help achieve the goal of "Linfen Green Transportation Pilot City". On October 19, 2023, the Hangwo Hydrogen Energy Integrated Energy Island Project jointly built by Jinnan Iron and Steel and Hangyang Group officially started, marking a solid step for Jinnan Group to achieve the goal of "China's near-zero carbon steel enterprise pioneer".

This project integrates hydrogenation, charging and gas refueling functions, and is scheduled to be completed and put into use on April 15 this year. After the implementation of the project, it is of great significance to improve energy efficiency, promote regional economic development and improve the urban air environment. At the same time, Jinnan Iron and Steel has created a hydrogen energy zero-carbon logistics platform in China with Linfen City as the center, and sought the supply cooperation of local high-quality enterprises through the market-oriented operation model, increased the supply of goods and hydrogen energy heavy trucks, and increased the proportion of return goods.

Through the big data analysis of the platform, accurate and automatic matching of the source of goods, one-click dispatch, automatic settlement, unmanned driving in the park, improve operational efficiency, at present, without subsidies to achieve profitability, attracting many domestic peers, professional teams to visit and study in Jinnan Group. In addition, Jinnan Iron & Steel and China Huaneng have cooperated to build a photovoltaic "new energy + energy storage" project to promote regional rural revitalization through the complementary development model of agriculture and light, of which the first phase of the photovoltaic project has been connected to the grid at full capacity in June 2023.

At the same time, Jinnan Group has built a 120 MW distributed photovoltaic power generation project in the idle vacant land, factory roof, factory wall, parking lot carport and other areas in the factory area, effectively reducing corporate carbon emissions by vigorously developing photovoltaic green power, and making green and low-carbon the eternal background color of high-quality development. "In the next step, we will continue to optimize hydrogen metallurgy-related technologies, gradually shift from hydrogen-rich blast furnace process to hydrogen-based shaft furnace direct reduction ironmaking process, use CCUS technology at the output end, and build a full-process green steel demonstration enterprise through large-scale layout of green power and green hydrogen industries, so as to become the country's leading near-zero carbon steel enterprise by 2050, and become a national demonstration base for ultra-energy-efficient green steel and a national demonstration base for CCUS technology application.
