Xu Shuai, director of the project operation department of Huadian Luntai Thermal Power Co., Ltd., said that the grid-connected power generation marks the successful "first kilowatt-hour" of the first multi-energy complementary project in Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang, which empowers the local economic development.
Deng Songtao, Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Director of Huadian Luntai Thermal Power Co., Ltd., said that the Huadian Luntai 100 MW photovoltaic power generation project is the second batch of large-scale wind power photovoltaic base projects in desert, Gobi and desertification areas in the country, and after being connected to the grid, it can provide 137 million kWh of green electricity for southern Xinjiang every year, save 55,700 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 166,700 tons, which can effectively improve the local power supply structure and inject "green energy" power into the high-quality economic and social development of southern Xinjiang.
It is reported that in August 2022, the construction of Huadian Luntai's 100 MW photovoltaic power generation project started. The project is located on the edge of the Taklamakan Desert, a typical Gobi desert area, covering an area of about 3,200 acres, supporting the construction of 1 booster station, 1 supporting energy storage, and the expansion of 1 booster station interval, with a total installed capacity of 100 MW.
