The 2023 World Geothermal Congress will achieve "zero carbon"
On August 15, the first National Ecology Day, and a month before the 2023 World Geothermal Congress, the conference announced that it would introduce carbon neutrality projects to neutralize the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the 2023 World Geothermal Congress through innovative solutions such as carbon asset purchases, and achieve "zero carbon meetings".
Adhere to the "low-carbon conference" and practice the theme of "green geothermal and clean earth". During the meeting, hydrogen vehicles will be vigorously used in connecting transportation; In terms of catering services, biodegradable plastic bags and lunch boxes will be fully used to accurately count the number of participants and avoid food waste; In the organization of the conference, environmentally friendly special paper will be used, and the use of paper will be reduced from the source through small program registration and sign-in, paperless office system, etc. At the same time, the conference advocated participants to take public transportation and participate in the CD-ROM action, called on participants to devote themselves to the specific practice of energy conservation and carbon reduction, and promoted green and low-carbon lifestyles to the public.
Guided by "post-meeting neutralization", we will achieve "zero-carbon meetings". The preparatory group of the conference entrusted Sinopec Carbon Technology Co., Ltd. to design emission reduction measures according to the actual situation in the preparation, holding and closing stages of the conference in accordance with the requirements of the PAS 2060-2014 carbon neutrality demonstration specification, calculate the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the meeting according to certain emission factors and accounting methods, and offset the actual greenhouse gas emissions generated by the meeting by purchasing sufficient carbon credits after the meeting.
The 2023 World Geothermal Congress will be held from September 15 to 17 at the China National Convention Center. The conference will focus on the hot trends of the global geothermal industry development, and will organize a number of technical activities with the themes of geothermal national reports, market development, cutting-edge technologies, green finance, policies and regulations, and sustainable development.
