Sinochem New Network News Recently, a survey released by Ember, a British climate and energy think tank, showed that since 2015, per capita carbon dioxide emissions from coal-fired power generation in the Group of 20 countries (G20) have increased by about 7%.

Ember statistics show that the G20 accounts for 80% of global emissions from the power generation sector, with coal-fired power generation emitting 1.6 tonnes of CO2 per capita last year. This is up from 1.5t in 2015 and significantly higher than the global average of 1.1t.

Mr Ember said Australia and South Korea were "the most polluted countries in 2022". Since 2015, the Australian coal industry's per capita CO2 emissions have fallen by more than 1/4, but still more than 4 tonnes. South Korea also cut by about 10% during the period, but it still reached 3.3t, the second highest in the G20.
