On August 17, witnessed by the Luohu Management Bureau of Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, a company in Shenzhen purchased 377 tons of carbon emission reduction of Hellobike through the Shenzhen carbon emission allowance spot trading system. This is the first case in Guangdong Province to complete an alternative restoration of ecological and environmental damage compensation through the purchase of carbon inclusive certified emission reductions.

Two months ago, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Shenzhen carbon market, three carbon inclusive emission reduction projects, including Hellobike Cycling, were officially filed and issued. The corresponding carbon inclusive certified emission reductions can be used to offset the performance of the Shenzhen carbon market, encourage organizations or individuals to purchase carbon universal certified emission reductions to achieve carbon neutrality, and can also open up multi-channel and multi-path consumption models such as ecological environmental damage compensation and carbon inclusive alternative restoration.

This transaction corresponds to the last situation: a Shenzhen company that caused ecological and environmental damage due to excessive emissions of air pollutants purchased 377 tons of carbon inclusive emission reduction of Hellobike at a price of 64.99 yuan per ton through the Shenzhen carbon emission spot trading system.

It turned out that as early as September 2022, the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment signed a damage compensation agreement with the company, stipulating that the compensation obligor would deposit the damage money in the account opened on the Shenzhen Emissions Rights Exchange and complete the freezing of funds, and agreed that after the carbon inclusive product went online, the compensation obligor should purchase the full amount of carbon inclusive certified emission reduction and cancel it for alternative restoration.

This not only marks the completion of alternative restoration in Guangdong Province's first ecological and environmental damage compensation case through the purchase of carbon inclusive certified emission reductions, but also marks the opening of the combination of ecological environmental damage compensation and carbon inclusive alternative restoration.

Hellobike Shenzhen Cycling Carbon Emission Reduction is the first shared bicycle carbon emission reduction project issued after China proposed the "dual carbon" goal. It shows in a certified and quantitative way that ordinary citizens can contribute to the "dual carbon" goal by riding shared bicycles, and this time it has once again played a positive role through trading.
