President Xi Jinping pointed out in a letter to this year's CIIE that since 2018, the CIIE has been successfully held for five times, relying on the advantages of China's large market, giving full play to the functions of international procurement, investment promotion, people-to-people exchanges, and open cooperation platform, and making positive contributions to accelerating the construction of a new development pattern and promoting the development of the world economy.
With the goal of "zero carbon and zero plastic Expo, green and smart travel", the green and low-carbon concept of this year's CIIE can be seen everywhere, all the buses used for security during the exhibition will use new energy vehicles, the recycling rate of booth materials will reach 100%, the catering service will fully implement the "zero plastic standard", and many domestic and foreign enterprises have also brought the latest achievements in green and low-carbon transformation.
The concept of low carbon can be found everywhere
In the exhibition area, the slogan of "Zero Carbon Expo, Zero Plastic Expo" can be seen everywhere, which is one of the important manifestations of this year's CIIE fully following the standards of renewable, recyclable and reduction.
"As the core supporting enterprise and designated insurance service provider of the CIIE, last year, we put forward the concept of zero-carbon CIIE, and this year we have added Zero Plastic Expo 2.0, hoping to integrate environmental protection and ESG sustainable development into the concept. The green power exhibition is also a highlight of this year's CIIE, with wind power and photovoltaic power lighting up every light in the exhibition hall. The reporter of "China Energy News" learned from the official website of the CIIE that the exhibition will achieve 100% green electricity for the first time, and purchase 8 million kWh of green electricity through inter-provincial green power trading. In addition, this green power not only covers the electricity consumption during the CIIE from November 5 to 10, but also covers the electricity consumption of the CIIE venues in November, which is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 3,360 tons.
A number of exhibitors also showed their green business cards at this year's CIIE. In the Energy and Low-Carbon Protection Zone, Siemens Energy's exhibits at the exhibition cover the entire energy value chain, including zero- or low-carbon power generation, energy transmission and storage, industrial decarbonization and other fields. In the automotive exhibition area of the Expo, hydrogen energy has become one of the cutting-edge technologies that automakers are keen to showcase, and BMW, Hyundai, Toyota and other car companies have exhibited the latest hydrogen vehicle products and solutions.
"At this exhibition, the BMW Group exhibited five new energy vehicles, including a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. The booth staff told the "China Energy News" reporter that the total output of the car is 295 kilowatts, the maximum cruising range is 504 kilometers, and it only takes 3-4 minutes to fill the hydrogen storage tank. "Although currently only available as a technical demonstration model, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, as part of BMW's green transformation strategy, demonstrate to the world its determination and technical reserves for new energy transformation. ”
Hyundai Motor Group, which has participated in the exhibition for six consecutive years, once again reserved the core position of its booth for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Toyota, an "old friend" of the Expo, also put hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in the C position. At Toyota's booth, hydrogen energy elements accounted for nearly half of the booth area, and the 49T tractor equipped with Toyota's high-power, high-efficiency, long-life hydrogen fuel cell and the Toyota Crown Sedan hydrogen fuel version, which made its debut in China, attracted many visitors.
"Toyota's demonstration of hydrogen energy in a series of technical application scenarios such as 'manufacturing-transportation-storage-use' is also a highlight of this time, and we also brought a hydrogen storage tank for large commercial vehicles with lighter weight and larger capacity, as well as an integrated storage module for replacement hydrogen cylinders that can achieve faster hydrogen refueling and longer range. Xu Yiming, director of Toyota China's marketing and public relations department, said in an interview that Toyota has participated in the CIIE for six consecutive years, and I think the CIIE can give every exhibitor the greatest value, so that everyone can exchange new technologies and new ideas on the spot. For the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle industry, the most obvious feeling I have felt in the past few years is that the awareness and acceptance of hydrogen energy by the public and local governments are constantly increasing.
Hydrogen is one of the Freudenberg Group's innovation showways. "At this year's CIIE, in addition to exhibiting the core components of fuel cells and fuel cell systems developed for heavy-duty transportation applications, Freudenberg also showcased for the first time products and solutions for the entire hydrogen energy industry chain from hydrogen production to hydrogen use. In the energy, low-carbon and environmental protection exhibition area, hydrogen energy has also become the focus of many booths. The Linde Group, the world's leading industrial gases and engineering company, presented a huge model of the Linde Green Gas Ecosystem, showcasing its technology products in hydrogen purification, hydrogen liquefaction, liquid hydrogen trailers and more. Linde Hydrogen Energy Virtual Reality World Mini Game leads participants to an immersive industrial park and shows the whole chain process of hydrogen energy production, storage, transportation and use.
Large energy orders continue to be signed
As of the press release of the China Energy News, a series of international energy procurement orders signed by Sinochem, CNOOC, Sinopec, PetroChina, and China Energy Group have been released.
On November 5, the first day of the opening of the CIIE, Sinochem signed cooperation agreements with more than 30 customers from more than 10 countries and regions including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ethiopia, France, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Thailand, the United States, and Japan, and cooperated in crude oil and refined oil, food and agricultural products, chemical products, chemical equipment, service trade and other fields, with a total procurement of more than 13.5 billion US dollars.
During the CIIE, Sinopec signed procurement agreements with 38 partners from 16 countries and regions, covering 11 categories and 29 products such as crude oil, chemicals, equipment, materials and agricultural products, with a purchase contract value of US$40.3 billion. Since the first CIIE in 2018, Sinopec has signed contracts of more than US$244 billion.
At the same time, Sinopec and QatarEnergy signed another large cooperation order. Under the signing of the Northern Gas Field Expansion Project Phase II (NFS) integration cooperation agreement, QatarEnergy will supply 3 million tonnes of LNG per year to Sinopec and transfer a 5% stake in its joint venture to Sinopec. "Promoting energy transition and achieving green development is inseparable from the joint efforts of the global energy industry and the open cooperation of energy companies. Ma Yongsheng, chairman of Sinopec, said that enterprises should strengthen cooperation in oil and gas resources and work together to build a more stable oil and gas supply system, strengthen green energy cooperation and work together to promote a higher quality green and low-carbon transformation, strengthen cooperation in the field of science and technology, and work together to gather more surging innovation momentum.
CNOOC Limited has signed import contracts and agreements with 22 global suppliers, with a new high in terms of contract amount, with a cumulative contract amount of more than US$60 billion in six years, and the signed procurement contracts cover 16 categories such as crude oil, natural gas, equipment, materials, and oilfield services. Among them, it signed an agreement with BASF to launch the first 10,000-square-meter CO2 conversion to syngas technology in China, further promoting the development of low-carbon technologies and the utilization of offshore natural gas resources. The procurement amount of China Energy Group hit a new high in this year's CIIE. China Energy Group has signed contracts with 44 enterprises from 20 countries and regions, including Mongolia, Switzerland, Indonesia, the United States and Germany, to import high-quality coal, high-end equipment and spare parts, and advanced technology services, with a total amount of more than 2.6 billion US dollars.
PetroChina signed purchase agreements with 10 partners, including Saudi Arabian Oil Company, Kuwait Oil Company and Schlumberger. PetroChina has signed purchase agreements with 22 partners from around the world, with a total contract value of more than US$17.1 billion. Since the sixth CIIE, PetroChina has signed procurement contracts with 164 suppliers, with a purchase amount of 110 billion US dollars (about 799.5 billion yuan).
