Series: Challenging another "impossible"

I remember when the ultra-low emissions of the steel industry were mentioned at the beginning of the year, I was surprised and felt that it was a fantasy! However, in the past few years, it has been common for steel companies to achieve ultra-low emissions, and the steel industry has become a benchmark for green development in one fell swoop.

There is an exemplary role in the steel industry, and now when it comes to ultra-low emissions in the cement industry, there is no surprise and worry, but full of expectations.

The cement industry is the third largest industry in China's major air pollutants and carbon dioxide emissions, with sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter accounting for 5.6%, 17.1% and 19.3% of the country's industrial emissions respectively, and carbon dioxide emissions accounting for about 13% of the country's total emissions. It is estimated that the full implementation of the ultra-low emission transformation of the cement industry will reduce nitrogen oxide and particulate matter emissions by 500,000 tons and 210,000 tons, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 10 million tons.

At the same time, some experts said that the current cement industry overcapacity, low annual operation rate, industry profits continue to decline, a certain period of time will still face weak market demand, further overcapacity, environmental costs and other pressures and challenges. By setting a benchmark for the green development of the industry through ultra-low emission transformation and adopting differentiated environmental management policies, enterprises with high environmental performance can truly obtain policy dividends and drive the overall transformation and upgrading of the industry. By encouraging and supporting the development of enterprises that can achieve ultra-low emissions, we will further create a fair and just competition, healthy and orderly market environment, and solve the problem of bad money driving out good money.

In the interview, we confirmed this statement. On the one hand, the implementation of the policy is not just to put forward requirements, but to give sufficient policy support, especially from the capital, technology to help enterprises. On the other hand, many enterprises with high environmental protection requirements have already heard the news, and have even initially reached the ultra-low emission standard. Moreover, some enterprises said that for enterprises, they can significantly reduce the amount of environmental taxes paid by reducing pollutant emissions, and can achieve continuous production during the special period of air pollution prevention and control, which is attractive enough.

Following the steel industry, the cement industry, the coking industry, China's air pollution prevention and control is challenging one after another "impossible", through technological improvement, management strengthening, they have become one "possibility" after another, so that it has become the norm.

As I write these words, outside the window of my office, the blue sky of Beijing is high and clear, which is refreshing. Suddenly, I thought of the sentence often used in the sports world: "You can always believe in ......", to paraphrase, we can also say with confidence: "You can always believe in China's air pollution prevention and control!"
