The beauty of China, the mountains and rivers are magnificent.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, China's ecological civilization construction has undergone historic, turning and overall changes.

August 15 is the first National Ecology Day. From a river and a piece of sand to a mountain, a bay and a sea... The story of the construction of beautiful China is full of colorful mountains and rivers.

Looking at the "change of the system" from a river of water and a piece of sand

Hubei Yichang Zhijiang Chengxi Sewage Treatment Plant can become the most important infrastructure in a large-scale chemical park, plant director Liu Feng said "I didn't expect it".

With its unique location and convenient water transportation, the Yangtze River has attracted hundreds of thousands of chemical companies, and the shoreline was once filled with chimney factories, sand and gravel wharves, and many sewage outlets discharged into the Yangtze River.

The Yaojiagang Chemical Industry Park in Zhijiang City, where nearly 100 chemical companies gathered, used to have an imperfect sewage pipe network and widespread leakage. The large and small sewage outlets along the river are dense, and the direct discharge and illegal discharge of enterprises occur from time to time.

The transformation began in 2016. Under the guidance of the concept of "joint protection and no large-scale development", sewage treatment is an important part of the battle for the remediation of chemical enterprises along the Yangtze River.

Yaojiagang Chemical Industry Park began to implement the whole chain of sewage treatment: the enterprise optimizes the production process and process to minimize the generation of sewage and wastewater; The sewage transportation pipeline is changed to stainless steel pipe to prevent running and dripping; The enterprise's own sewage outlets are all blocked, and the sewage must be unified into the river through the sewage treatment plant.

As a result, the Chengxi Sewage Treatment Plant has become the core enterprise of Yaojiagang Chemical Park, and Liu Feng has been engaged in environmental protection in the chemical industry for 15 years. New processes such as biomultiplication have been introduced into sewage treatment plants to improve the effectiveness of sewage treatment, and the standards of sewage discharge are getting higher and higher. "We strictly control the 'last pass' of sewage treatment, and strive not to let a drop of sewage enter the Yangtze River." Liu Feng said.

"The general secretary stressed that 'we must consider the long-term interests of the Chinese nation and put the restoration of the ecological environment of the Yangtze River in an overwhelming position'. Yaojiagang Chemical Industry Park has accelerated its transformation, from the initial 'headache and foot pain' to the current systematic governance, exploring a new path of ecological priority and green development to promote the protection and ecological restoration of the Yangtze River. Xia Kesong, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Zhijiang High-tech Zone and head of Yaojiagang Chemical Park, said.

The "system change" of ecological and environmental governance from one area to the whole is happening in more places.

Ren Erchang's proudest thing is that he has insisted on afforestation for 10 years, so that the desert has grown green, and the National Forestry and Grassland Administration has appointed him as a "national forestry and grassland local expert".

Ren Erchang's home is in Ulan Ha Shaogacha, Urad Houqi, Inner Mongolia, which is on the edge of Ulan Bu and the northeast, the eighth largest desert in China. In the past few decades, the sand here has been in and out, "lighting oil lamps during the day and blocking the door at night".

In the autumn of 2013, Ren Erchang, a peasant party member, took out all his savings of more than 100,000 yuan to buy saplings and decided to plant trees to prevent wind and sand and protect farmland.

"Green Dream" inspired him and his fellow villagers to fight. The Gobi sand and gravel could not be planted with trees, so he led the villagers to dig pits and change soil; The mountain roads were rough and impassable, and they carried saplings on their shoulders; The surface is barren and lacks water, so they dig wells for water and lay drip irrigation pipelines... I don't know how many days and nights have been dry, the barren land has erected branches of life, and criss-crossing farmland shelterbelts have been built, and the agricultural production environment has been greatly improved.

"In addition to desertification prevention and control, we must also take into account economic benefits." After completing the construction of the farmland shelterbelt, Ren Erchang led the villagers to plant economic tree species such as jujube on the sand and gravel beach.

After 10 years of hard work, more than 2,400 acres of ecological and economic forests have been built around Ulanha Shaogacha, completing the ecological transformation from sand entering and retreating to green and sand retreating, and realizing the transformation from key rectification to systematic governance.

Looking at the "change of concept" from a mountain and a bay of sea

Speaking of the good days in the past few years, Chen Meng, a 61-year-old villager in Caijiapo Village, Hubei District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, sighed that "I can wake up with a smile when I dream."

Caijiapo Village is located at the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains, which was once the location of the super-large illegal villas in the Qinling Mountains, and the villa circle occupied 14.11 acres of basic farmland in the village. "The villa is out of step with the natural scenery of the village, and good land can't be planted." Chen Meng and the villagers could only sigh helplessly.

In 2018, the special rectification work of illegal villas was carried out at the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains, and the villas were demolished, and the land was restored to green and returned to the village collective.

"When the walls and villas fell, the villagers applauded." Chen Meng recalled.

It was also this year that a group of teachers and students from art academies came to Caijiapo, attracted by the natural features of the lush mountains and deep forests, and they explored the ecology of the Qinling Mountains and the distinctive regional culture of the rural areas of Guanzhong, and led the villagers to build a number of cultural venues such as the Wheat Field Theater, the Village Art Museum, and the Sculpture Museum.

The development of rural art has brought new life to Caijiapo: wheat straw has been made into art installations, farm tools have been transformed into sculptures, and works of art of different styles have been dotted in fields, farmhouses and village roads...

"The village is beautiful, famous, and there are more tourists, and we are starting to think about how to live a better life." Chen Meng said that the villagers discussed starting rural tourism.

"In the past, farming and working earned 350,000 yuan a year, but now I earn more than 200,000 yuan a year from running a farm at my doorstep. In the past, planting kiwifruit was still marketable for 2 yuan per catty, but now it has to be booked for 4 yuan per catty. Chen Meng said, "Lucid waters and lush mountains have really become gold and silver mountains." ”

Now Chen Meng has a new identity - the "folk forest chief" who shuttles between the Qinling Mountains, and the most important thing he does every day is to walk around the village and take a look, "This scenery is not easy to come by, and it is our responsibility to protect it." ”

"The change of concept" is in the depths of the Qinling Mountains, but also in the broader landscape.

At 5 o'clock in the morning, Wang Yanjun, secretary of the party branch of Xiaohekou Village, Longkou Coastal Resort, Shandong, rode an electric car and went out.

"The thing I have to do every morning is to see where the village is not clean and where there is garbage on the beach." Wang Yanjun said.

The village of Xiaohekou is located just 1 km from the sea. "We have a curved coast with our back to the Bohai Sea, but few people went to the beach in the past." Wang Yanjun said that at that time, garbage was everywhere on the beach and windbreak, which seriously affected the seaside environment.

Villagers are accustomed to discharging domestic sewage directly outside their houses, and the sewage mixed with garbage will also flow into the village river. "During the rainy season, sewage from the river is washed into the sea by water from the river, which exacerbates the pollution of the sea." Wang Yanjun recalled.

Although Xiaohekou Village used to clean up garbage every year, it always treated the symptoms rather than the root cause.

Since 2021, the Management Committee of Binhai Resort has carried out systematic renovation of the domestic sewage treatment of Xiaohekou Village, and the drainage pipes of each household have been integrated into the sewage pipe network, and the domestic sewage flows into the centralized collection tank and is regularly pumped to the sewage treatment plant.

The garbage in the village is put at a fixed point, and the garbage removal truck is removed and disposed of every day. Together with more than a dozen cleaners, Wang Yanjun inspected the environment along the coast every day, found garbage, and cleaned it up in time.

"The village is clean and tidy, the beach is as white as snow, which attracts many tourists, and rare birds such as the Oriental White Stork also come to visit in flocks, and the environment of our village has been completely improved." Wang Yanjun said.

From the "Green Generation" and "Light Generation" to the "Change of Development"

On one side, the fiery billets on the production line are being rolled into steel, and on the other side, the fish are swimming happily in the pond with clear water.

"This is one of our innovations in reducing pollution and carbon emissions." Wang Guoming, energy and environmental technician of Tianjin Rongcheng United Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd., said proudly. The "green generation" of the steel group has witnessed the butterfly changes of this traditional steel enterprise in the past 10 years.

In the impression of the steel industry, the enterprise workshop is always "black and dirty", with billowing smoke and scorching high temperatures, accompanied by the production process.

As one of the first seven pilot provinces and cities in the country, Tianjin has implemented carbon emission quota management for key enterprises since 2013, and Rongcheng has become the first batch of pilot enterprises in Tianjin. Over the years, Rongcheng has invested more than 5.5 billion yuan in supporting energy-saving and environmental protection facilities.

Two years ago, the company completed the zero discharge project of industrial wastewater reuse, and all the production wastewater was recycled after treatment, and the fish pond in the workshop is the best proof of the water quality of sewage treatment. "During the lunch break, we often gather by the pool to watch the fish swim, and some of the workers even like to play with the flowers and plants on the side." Wang Guoming said with a smile.

The actions to save energy and reduce emissions do not stop there.

"The group has laid photovoltaic panels on the roof of the workshop and the water surface of the 600-acre sewage treatment plant." Walking in the factory area, Wang Guoming pointed to the photovoltaic panels and introduced that the photovoltaic panels on the roof of the workshop are used for production every day.

"In the past, we were a 'big carbon emitter', but now, we can benefit from trading surplus carbon allowances, and this year we have earned more than 8 million yuan." Chai Shuman, Secretary of the Party Committee of Rongcheng United Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd., said.

More than 2,000 kilometers away, the "light generation" is also feeling the "change of development".

"Ten years ago, when I graduated from university and came to the oil field, I was full of hopes and worries." Hu Long, deputy chief of the project management section of the new energy division of Yumen Oilfield, said.

Yumen Oilfield is the cradle of China's petroleum industry, but after more than 80 years of development and construction, the remaining recoverable amount is decreasing, and the resource grade is declining, facing severe challenges.

The hydropower plant where Hu Long, the "third generation of oil", used small coal-fired units, with small capacity and high energy consumption, and with the decline of oil reserves, the transformation is imminent.

In 2020, Gansu will start a new round of new energy industry development boom.

The Hexi region, where the Yumen Oilfield is located, is rich in wind and solar resources, and the Gobi area is vast, which has unique conditions for the development of new energy. Taking advantage of the policy wind, the oilfield turned the "bow" and sailed towards the "blue ocean" of new energy.

In that year, Yumen Oilfield formulated the first new energy business development plan and established a new energy business division. Hu Long, who studied electrical automation, began to specialize in new energy business.

In September of that year, the demonstration project of comprehensive utilization of solar energy in Laojunmiao of Yumen Oilfield started, and at the "transformation" juncture, the design, construction and other parties worked hard to overcome various difficulties, and the pilot project was put into operation after only two months of construction.

"The actual annual power generation of the project has greatly exceeded expectations, and the results have been good in the past three years of operation." Hu Long said.

In 2021, the 200 MW photovoltaic power generation project in Yumen Oilfield broke ground in the Great Gobi and was successfully connected to the grid at the end of the year, becoming the first large-scale centralized grid-connected power generation demonstration project of China National Petroleum Corporation, breaking the breakthrough of PetroChina's zero supply of clean electricity to the outside world.

Today, the installed capacity of clean power in Yumen Oilfield is more than 500,000 kilowatts, and the average annual supply of new energy power to the outside world is 1 billion kilowatt hours, which is equivalent to saving 210,000 tons of standard oil.

"The general secretary stressed that it is necessary to put the promotion of new energy and clean energy development in a more prominent position, and actively and orderly develop photovoltaic energy, silicon energy, hydrogen energy, and renewable energy." Today's "light generation" Hu Long said that the new energy business of the old oilfield is still on the way, and the transformation and leapfrogging are still continuing.
