On September 18, 2023, the launching ceremony of carbon asset trading of the Inner Mongolia Environment and Energy Exchange and the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement between the Ordos Municipal People's Government and the Shanghai Environmental Exchange were successfully held.

Li Li, Secretary of the Ordos Municipal Party Committee, Du Huiliang, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor attended the meeting, Su Cuifang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor presided over the meeting, Hua Ruifeng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Yijin Holuo Banner Committee, Liu Fengyun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Secretary-General, Ji Rimutu, Vice Mayor of Shanghai Environmental Exchange, and Liu Jie, General Manager of Shanghai Environmental Exchange, delivered a speech. The main responsible persons of Yiqi Government, Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Municipal State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau, Municipal Forestry and Grassland Bureau, Municipal Financial Office, Municipal Energy Bureau and other main persons attended the event. Nie Libin, Deputy Director of the Business Innovation Department of Shanghai Environmental Exchange, made a general introduction to the Inner Mongolia Environment and Energy Exchange.

At the launching ceremony, a strategic cooperation agreement between Ordos City and Shanghai Environmental Exchange was signed, the first CCER forestry carbon sink forward trading agreement in Ordos City and the first CCER project intention agreement of Inner Mongolia Environment and Energy Exchange were signed. Two methodologies, "Carbon Emission Reduction Methodology for Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles" and "Carbon Emission Reduction Assessment Methodology for New Energy Smart Logistics in the Process of Coal Transportation", were released.

The Ordos Municipal People's Government and the Shanghai Environmental Exchange will give full play to their respective advantages, strengthen resource collaboration and sharing, and deepen strategic cooperation in the construction of Ordos regional carbon pricing and carbon asset trading system, regional carbon emission data information management and carbon asset trading platform construction, dual carbon capacity building, and carbon financial product innovation.

In the future, with the support and guidance of the Ordos Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, Shanghai Environmental Exchange will help the development of regional carbon assets, promote the construction of regional carbon emission data information management platform, continuously improve the supporting service capabilities of carbon assets, serve the green and low-carbon transformation of regional energy in Ordos and Inner Mongolia, and help achieve the national "dual carbon" goal.
