Turning "green" into "gold", Jiaxing completed the city's first carbon inclusive emission reduction transaction

On the morning of January 18, the 87 tons of carbon sinks held by the People's Government of Yaozhuang Town, Jiashan County, Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province were listed and traded through the carbon inclusive platform under Jiaxing Property Rights Trading Co., Ltd., and purchased by Zhejiang Wantai Special Steel Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Wantai Special Steel) for the construction of zero-carbon factories of enterprises. This also marks the completion of Jiaxing's first carbon inclusive emission reduction transaction in the city.

"Carbon inclusiveness" is a quantitative accounting of the green carbon reduction behavior of the city's organs, enterprises and institutions, social groups, other social organizations, and individuals.

According to reports, the transaction of assets from the construction of "underwater forest" in Jiangjiagang, Yaozhuang Town, Jiangjiagang has 15,000 square meters of submerged plants, which can produce about 44 tons of carbon dioxide per year. Xu Jiandong, the relevant person in charge of Yaozhuang Economic Development Zone, said that Yaozhuang is located in the Yangtze River Delta ecological green integrated development demonstration zone, focusing on low-carbon development, and is gradually exploring underwater carbon sinks in recent years.

This transaction is the first carbon sink purchased by the company, which will help the company achieve the goal of 'zero carbon', and it is also an exploration of the steel industry in carbon inclusive trading in addition to the power industry, which will help promote the carbon inclusive trading of the steel industry, which is of great significance. ”

In recent years, Jiaxing City has thoroughly implemented the goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, carried out the pilot construction of carbon inclusive trading guided by carbon emission intensity control, and mobilized the enthusiasm of the whole society to practice green and low-carbon. At the beginning of 2023, Jiaxing began to actively plan the pilot construction of carbon inclusive trading. Through the establishment of a high-level work leading group, the establishment of a carbon inclusive trading operation management center, a certification center and a carbon inclusive expert talent pool covering 33 experts in 7 professional fields, Jiaxing has successively formulated and implemented the "Jiaxing Carbon Inclusive Methodology Development Guide" and "Jiaxing Carbon Inclusive Emission Reduction Review and Verification Guide", and issued the "Jiaxing Carbon Inclusive Construction Management Measures (Trial)" and other institutional documents to standardize the pilot work process of carbon inclusive trading, providing clear guidance and basis for all parties to participate.

After a year of work on the construction of the carbon inclusive trading system, Jiaxing has taken a "key step" in the on-site trading of carbon inclusive certified emission reductions, and carbon inclusive emission reduction has shown initial results. Next, Jiaxing will develop carbon inclusive projects in an orderly manner, guide and encourage non-carbon trading into enterprises, "zero-carbon" public institutions to create units, low (zero) carbon pilot construction units, green and low-carbon park creation units, low-carbon highway service areas, low-carbon farms, etc., to give priority to the purchase of carbon inclusive emission reductions to offset their own carbon emissions, and guide regional green and low-carbon development with carbon inclusive projects.
