Recently, the "Chongqing Carbon Lecture Hall" organized by the Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment entered the Affiliated Middle School of Southwest University in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area to explain the knowledge of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality to students, advocate saving water, electricity and paper in their study and life, save energy and reduce consumption, and help the school build a "low-carbon" campus.

Education plays an important role in shaping young people's outlook on sustainable development and promoting sustainable action. During the event, Xu Jun, a senior engineer from the Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, integrated the knowledge of biology, physics, chemistry and other disciplines into the knowledge related to "double carbon", so that students could perceive the existence of "carbon emissions" in a familiar environment.

"To measure a country's carbon emissions, there can be different indicators such as total annual emissions, per capita emissions, historical cumulative emissions, and per capita historical cumulative emissions. During the event, Xu Jun explained the multi-layered meaning of "carbon justice" to the students, allowing them to look at things from multiple perspectives.

Xu Jun told reporters that the "double carbon" education for young people is not only to impart scientific knowledge, but also to pay attention to the cultivation of values. In the process of international carbon neutrality, what are the divergent interests and influencing factors behind the great power game around carbon equity, which can become an important part of "double carbon" education, and the "double carbon" education of young people should be a multi-dimensional three-dimensional education system including scientific knowledge, values education, and world view education. It is necessary to enhance the awareness of ecological civilization among young people and cultivate their long-term and broader vision.

It is understood that the Affiliated High School of Southwest University in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area relies on the existing subject knowledge system, and also supplements and improves the relevant content of "double carbon", laying a foundation for young people to understand the importance of "double carbon". For example, in their Chinese course, they recommend many masterpieces of ecological literature for students to read, in the history course, the teacher also introduces the relationship between agricultural civilization, industrial civilization and ecological civilization, and in the chemistry course, the synergy between pollution reduction and carbon reduction is introduced, so that students can understand the importance of reducing waste generation and sorting garbage to achieve the "double carbon" goal.
