Recently, the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission approved the project proposal (on behalf of the feasibility study report) of the Children's Hospital Affiliated to the Capital Institute of Pediatrics, adding 800 beds, and all the scientific research and teaching functions have been relieved to this point, and the layout of the Chaoyang Old Hospital is dislocated, and it is expected to be put into use in 2026.
Since its establishment in 1986, the Children's Hospital of the Capital Institute of Pediatrics has gone through 37 years and is a "good hospital" by parents. However, the carrying capacity is limited, and the traffic pressure and urban governance contradictions around the institute are increasing day by day.
The approved Tongzhou Campus project of the Institute of Pediatrics is located in Songzhuang Town, with a total construction area of 186,400 square meters. Among them, the above-ground construction area is 113,300 square meters and the underground construction area is 73,100 square meters. The project is planned to be constructed according to the 800-bed plan. As a key project in Beijing, the Institute of Pediatrics will realize "one hospital and two sites" after completion. Chaoyang Hospital will evacuate all scientific research and teaching functions and some medical beds to the sub-center of the city, mainly providing basic medical care and emergency first aid services for children in the core area and surrounding areas.
As the main hospital area of the hospital, Tongzhou Campus provides high-level incurable diseases, acute and critical treatment and other guarantee services for children in the sub-center of the city and the northeast of the city on the basis of providing high-quality comprehensive medical services for children in the surrounding areas of the hospital, and carries the function of the Capital Institute of Pediatrics. The experience will also be completely different. Cutting-edge diagnosis and treatment concepts and technologies such as "MDT (multidisciplinary consultation) modern medical treatment" and "Internet hospital" will be applied to it, and the spatial flow line will be optimized, the flow of doctors and patients will be separated, and the waiting time of patients will be shortened, and more children will be able to seek medical treatment nearby and in real time. In view of the characteristics of children with many fevers, an independent infection building is also set up in the southwest corner of the hospital to avoid affecting other areas.
As a new project in the sub-center of the city, the new hospital implements three-star green building standards, improves the thermal performance of building maintenance structures, the proportion of green materials applied, and the sound insulation performance of main functional rooms, adopts external shading facilities and water-saving irrigation systems, and will become another benchmark for green energy saving and low-carbon emission reduction. After the relief, the function of Chaoyang Old Hospital will be optimized, the medical treatment route will be readjusted, and the service guarantee capacity of children in the central urban area and surrounding areas will be improved, which will greatly alleviate the pressure of regional transportation and urban governance.
