"At present, the market demand for China's traditional environmental protection equipment is shrinking. In the field of air pollution control, the number of coal-fired industrial boilers has dropped from a peak of 500,000 to less than 100,000 now; in the field of water pollution control, the urban sewage treatment rate is more than 97 percent; in the field of solid waste disposal, the municipal solid waste treatment rate is also close to 100 percent. On November 30, 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology also issued the "Catalogue of Major Environmental Protection Technology and Equipment Encouraged by the State (2023 Edition)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Catalogue"), which contains a total of 158 major environmental protection technologies and equipment in three technical stages of development, application and promotion, including air pollution prevention and control, water pollution prevention and control, solid waste treatment and disposal, special instruments for environmental monitoring, special parts for environmental pollution prevention and control equipment, noise and vibration control, etc., to develop products for enterprises and other entities. Provide guidance to adapt to market needs. Yuan Ling said that it is necessary to regularly update the "Catalogue of Major Environmental Protection Technology and Equipment Encouraged by the State".

Ren Hongqiang pointed out that the application of these technologies also faces new challenges.

Ren Hongqiang believes that in the future, in the equipment manufacturing system, there will be more environmental big data resource platforms. Because of the integration of multiple functions, the environmental big data resource platform may play a greater role, and this aspect faces new challenges.
