The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will officially kick off in July, and preparations are underway. According to a Reuters report on the 23rd, in order to further reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment, some venues of the Paris Olympics will use environmentally friendly seats made of recyclable plastic waste.
According to reports, about 11,000 eco-friendly seats will be installed in some stadiums for the Paris Olympics, and some venues, including the Olympic Aquatics Centre, have already installed such seats. They are supplied by a French eco-building company, which converts hundreds of tons of renewable plastic into panels through thermal compression and other technologies, and finally makes seats.
Benjamin, head of an eco-building company in France: We get [recyclable plastics] from different recyclers and work with more than 50 recyclers who collect the waste and sort it.
Benjamin further explained that the recyclers will wash the plastic waste and shred it, which will then be transported to the factory in the form of pellets or debris to make eco-friendly seats.
There are also media reports that the Paris Olympics use recycled plastic to make chairs, and in addition to environmental purposes, another reason is the lack of sufficient raw materials to make the seats.
