The 28th International Climate Conference (COP28) is being held in Dubai, and Delta is actively participating in it for the 16th time this year, planning topics with "climate finance", one of the themes of COP28, hoping to contribute innovative financial climate solutions. At the side event on the 10th, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the German Carbon Trading Association, the Center for Global Environmental and Climate Information (CDP), Representatives from the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) and the Environment Agency of Ghana shared the stage, and Delta's participation in the climate conference was led by Chief Brand Officer Guo Shanshan, who used the company's experience in implementing an internal carbon pricing management mechanism to verify that carbon pricing is also an effective carbon reduction tool on the enterprise side, and called on all parties to face up to the concept of carbon price and develop relevant concrete actions as soon as possible. The physical meeting was broadcast live online, attracting the attention of 100 international climate opinion leaders and enthusiastic exchanges.

Delta and international organizations jointly held a side event at COP28, and Delta's Chief Brand Officer, Guo Shanshan (second from left), shared Delta's internal carbon pricing performance with the international community

Guo Shanshan, Chief Brand Officer of Delta, said: "Delta's participation in climate conferences in the past mainly focused on energy-saving technologies as a solution to combat climate change, but this year, more companies have shared their experience in carbon pricing in the face of climate finance trends, and made concrete achievements for carbon reduction. Nearly half of the world's top 500 companies use internal carbon pricing to help reduce carbon emissions, and since 2017, Delta has adopted shadow pricing to support more energy-saving investment plans around the world, and has witnessed the decoupling of corporate revenue growth from carbon emissions. In order to further accelerate corporate carbon reduction, in 2021, Delta integrated internal carbon fees into the management mechanism, and levied an internal carbon price of US$300 per ton from various business institutions to drive more energy-saving solutions and invest in low-carbon technology research and development. By the end of 2022, Delta's global network has achieved a renewable electricity usage rate of 63% and a 13.5% reduction in carbon emissions, which also shows that the internal carbon fee mechanism can effectively help enterprises reduce their overall carbon emissions. ”

This year's fringe meeting, co-led by Delta, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and the German Carbon Trading Association, all agreed that "carbon has a price" is an unstoppable trend from the perspective of governments, enterprises, and international think tanks, and can effectively reduce carbon emissions. Pietro Bertazzi, CDP's Global Representative, who was also invited to speak, said: "We have observed that the number of companies adopting carbon pricing has doubled in the past three years, and most of them are due to drive low-carbon investment and improve energy efficiency. Rambabu Paravastu, a business representative with 250,000 members in India and co-chair of the FICCI Climate Change Committee, said innovative finance plays a crucial role in achieving climate goals, helping to reduce the risk of climate investments, support the development of immature decarbonisation technologies, and accelerate the decarbonization of the economy through new sources of finance.

As an official observer of the Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Delta has hosted or been invited to participate in 18 exchange activities at international climate conferences since 2007.
