At the symposium on promoting the rise of the central region in the new era,practiceNear-flatThe general secretary pointed out that to speed up the construction of a new energy system, pay attention to the complementary and deep integration of traditional energy and new energy. In the face of multiple requirements such as high-quality development and high-level security, it is necessary to balance the development relationship between traditional energy and new energy.

In order to achieve the climate goals set forth in the Paris Agreement, vigorously developing new energy represented by wind power and photovoltaic has become a common choice for major countries around the world. In recent years, China has vigorously developed renewable energy and accelerated the construction of a new energy system. In 2023, China's renewable energy development will undergo historic changes, with a total installed capacity of 1.45 billion kilowatts, accounting for more than half of the country's total installed power generation capacity, surpassing the installed capacity of thermal power.

Despite the positive results of new energy development, under the current technological conditions, no clean energy source can solve the climate problem alone. The large-scale and high proportion of new energy connected to the grid has brought a new challenge to the safety of the power system: electric energy is a special commodity, and power generation and consumption need to be balanced in real time. However, new energy power generation "depends on the sky", and the output has obvious intermittency, randomness and volatility, which increases the risk of system operation. Therefore, while continuing to increase investment in new energy sources such as solar energy and wind energy, we must focus on improving the capacity of new energy consumption, storage and active support, promote the complementary and coordinated development of multiple energy sources, and actively build a new power system and a new energy system.

At present, coal is still in a dominant position in China's primary energy structure. China is in the stage of deepening industrialization and urbanization, and energy demand will continue to grow. From the perspective of the current technical route, resource endowment, cost and benefit, clean energy is not yet able to meet the high growth of electricity consumption in a short period of time. Considering the large quantity and proportion of coal production and consumption, large-scale substitution is not easy. Therefore, for a long period of time, how to make good use of coal, a stable, economical and traditional energy source with a high degree of self-security, is of great significance to China's energy transition and economic development.

The key to balancing energy transition and energy security is to promote the deep integration of traditional energy and new energy. On the one hand, traditional energy and new energy are both substitution and auxiliary relationships, and the key is how to promote the optimal combination of the two. New energy power generation needs to "watch the sky and eat", and there is a certain difficulty in large-scale grid connection. In the future, large-scale grid consumption of wind power and photovoltaic power and stable operation of the power grid will be inseparable from the peak regulation of coal power. Especially in extreme weather and emergencies, fossil fuels such as coal and oil and gas can play a back-up role. To this end, it is necessary to rationally lay out the construction of supporting power sources such as coal power and gas power for peak shaving to help the high-quality development of new energy.

On the other hand, we will actively play the role of new energy to help reduce carbon emissions in the whole process of traditional energy production and consumption. Fossil energy such as coal, oil and gas will not only produce a large amount of carbon emissions in the combustion process, but also consume a lot of energy in the mining and production process. On the production side, most of China's coal, oil and gas upstream enterprises are located in North China, Northeast China and Northwest China, with abundant wind and solar resources, and the geographical space in the mining rights area is vast. On the consumption side, it can promote the blending of hydrogen and ammonia in thermal power plants, reduce the consumption of coal and natural gas, and reduce carbon emissions.

In short, the deep integration of traditional energy and new energy has broad space and great promise. In the face of the new situation and new requirements of economic and social development, it is necessary to balance the relationship between traditional energy and new energy development, actively explore a new model of deep integration and development of the two, and solve the problem of energy transformation.
