"After the launch of the carbon account for truck drivers on the Full Gang platform, Chinese truck drivers are realizing the ideological transformation from passively replacing new national standard vehicles to improving the full load rate, reducing the empty driving rate, opening carbon accounts, and realizing carbon credits. On November 30, Chen Zhaohui, chief scientist of Full Truck Group, said in a speech at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The picture shows Chen Zhaohui, chief scientist of Full Truck Group, invited to attend the COP28 China corner meeting and delivered a keynote speech.
It is reported that this is the representative of "green logistics" in China's transportation field, which has been invited to participate in the United Nations Climate Change Conference for two consecutive years. Chen Zhaohui delivered a keynote speech on behalf of Full Bang Group, sharing the value of China's truck drivers' carbon accounts and the "green logistics+" service system, and jointly launched the green and sustainable development of China's road freight with China Classification Society, China Communications and Information Center, China Everbright Bank, Zhongce Rubber, Telai and Plus.ai, etc., once again letting the international community see the innovative practices and responsibilities of Chinese enterprises in achieving the "dual carbon" goal.
From 0 to 1 to N, more than 1 million truck drivers in China will have carbon accounts
Chen Zhaohui shared the exploration of Full Truck Group in technology and carbon reduction in recent years. In 2019, Full Truck Group discovered the carbon reduction value of the digital freight platform among millions of driver users and hundreds of millions of orders, and quickly established a "double carbon" project team to explore and demonstrate the relationship between the emission factor of the unit transportation turnover of freight trucks and the actual load rate in conjunction with China Classification Society, and accurately calculated that the average transportation turnover per ton of truck drivers on the Full Truck platform can produce 0.01 kg of carbon emission reduction.
In March 2022, the "Technical Specification for the Assessment of Greenhouse Gas Emission Reductions in the Annual Intelligent Matching System for Road Freight" compiled by Full Truck Group was officially approved, which also became the first carbon emission reduction group standard in China's road freight industry, filling the gap in the carbon emission reduction accounting system of the road freight industry. In June of the same year, Full Truck Group officially released the "Full Luck Carbon Road Plan" to develop carbon inclusive methodology, jointly build a carbon inclusive platform, and benefit more drivers.
On June 5, 2023, Full Truck Group officially opened a carbon account for more than 3,000 truck drivers across the country, which is also the first carbon account in China's road freight sector. Truck drivers can view the carbon credits they have earned by transporting goods through the carbon account, and further redeem the green rights and interests set up by the platform to get more tangible benefits, which not only boosts the increase of effective transportation mileage and reduces the unit carbon emissions, but more importantly, helps drivers gradually realize the ideological transformation from "I want to save energy" to "I want to save energy".
Chen Zhaohui revealed that on December 1, the short-distance brand of the Full Bang Group will be in Guangzhou for more than 2,500 new energy vehicle city with drivers officially launched the carbon account, on the basis of the original new energy vehicle tilt policy, the province has also set up a special fund for carbon account drivers to issue green rights, by further enhancing the activity of drivers, revitalizing the city's green transport capacity pool, and driving more fuel vehicles to upgrade and replace with new energy vehicles.
It is expected that by the end of 2023, more than 1 million truck drivers will apply to open carbon accounts on the Full Truck platform. From more than 3,000 to more than 1 million, it took less than half a year for the full gang.
For a long time, truck drivers have been most concerned about "how to make money by transporting goods". Specifically, it is how to find goods at a better price, and try to save fuel and money and save transportation costs. Chen Zhaohui said that the opening of carbon accounts by truck drivers means that they have their own carbon assets. After the carbon account was launched, it had a very good response in the driver group, and many drivers came to consult how to open a carbon account.
From enterprises to industries, Full Truck has jointly launched a "green logistics +" service system
More than 1 million truck drivers have launched carbon accounts, which also means that the green credit rating established by the Full Truck platform based on the truck model, the driver's transportation mileage, cargo tonnage, etc., has begun to take shape. Chen Zhaohui said on the spot that the Full Truck Group will promote the resonance of the industrial chain at the same frequency based on the green reputation system created by the carbon account, and cooperate with upstream and downstream enterprises and users of the industrial chain to join the ranks of carbon reduction through value co-creation.
As we all know, the road freight industry has a long industrial chain, wide coverage, many associated enterprises, and a large proportion of small and medium-sized enterprises, so there are problems such as weak awareness of carbon reduction and lack of experience. If we want to achieve the green, low-carbon and sustainable development of the entire road freight industry, it is the right way to link the upstream and downstream of the entire industrial chain to carry out green actions for carbon reduction.
In a report, the United Nations noted that "implementing ambitious measures to address greenhouse gas emissions in industry, transport, buildings and other sectors can reduce emissions from these sectors and their entire supply chains, while reducing costs and bringing co-benefits".
Based on this, Full Truck Group, together with China Classification Society, China Communications and Information Center, China Everbright Bank, Zhongce Rubber, Telai and Plus, jointly launched the green action for the sustainable development of China's road freight and jointly launched the "Green Logistics+" service system. The participants pledged to continuously improve key technologies such as carbon emission reduction accounting standards and monitoring methods in the field of road freight transport, while integrating their respective advantageous resources, expanding the green rights and welfare mechanisms of carbon account drivers, and further enhancing the enthusiasm of truck drivers for energy conservation and carbon reduction.
It is worth mentioning that the "green logistics + finance" service launched by the Full Bang Group and China Everbright Bank has been officially launched, and the two sides have established a green credit system of mutual recognition and mutual trust based on the driver's carbon account, and took the lead in taking the "green evaluation factor" as an important indicator for financial institutions to evaluate the credit of truck drivers, and drivers with higher green ratings will enjoy green privileges in terms of loan amount, interest rate, and repayment cycle. This move will further enhance the experience and sense of gain of truck drivers in the field of financial services, encourage more truck drivers to enhance their awareness of energy conservation and carbon reduction, and become the main force on the road to "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" in the transportation field.
Difficult but correct, Chinese and foreign experts have praised the efforts of the Manbang to reduce carbon emissions in road transport
Road freight is a core battleground for carbon reduction in China's transportation sector. According to the data, China's total carbon emissions in 2022 will be about 12.1 billion tons, of which the transportation sector will account for about 10.4%. In the field of transportation, road transportation accounts for more than 80% of carbon emissions, of which road freight accounts for more than 60%.
However, for Full Truck Group, carbon emission reduction in road logistics is a "difficult but correct" thing. Under the active guidance of Full Truck Group, carbon reduction, a concept that was once out of reach for truck drivers, has finally entered their field of vision step by step, become their intuitive cognition, and is closely related to them.
Ren Haoxiang, vice president of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and president of the China Logistics Society, pointed out in a speech that the Full Truck Group pioneered the creation of a driver's carbon account on the platform, which will provide a new solution and technical path for the low-carbon development of road freight. At the same time, it is conducive to improving the awareness of energy conservation and carbon reduction of the majority of drivers, cultivating fuel-saving driving habits, and bringing green and low-carbon to the implementation level and implementing it to the most practical place.
Duan Maosheng, deputy director, researcher and doctoral supervisor of the Institute of Energy, Environment and Economics of Tsinghua University, believes that the transportation industry has large emissions and relatively limited emission reduction path options, which are the key and difficult points to achieve the "double carbon" goal, and it is necessary to use innovative technical and financial means to promote transportation enterprises to actively take emission reduction measures. Through the Internet and big data technology, Full Truck Group fully taps the potential of emission reduction according to the characteristics of the transportation industry, integrates the carbon reduction results of the value chain into its own business and products, and promotes the low-carbon and sustainable development of the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain.
Wang Xiangyi, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the China Association for NGO Cooperation, said that sustainable transportation and freight transportation have become one of the themes of this year's COP28, reflecting the great importance that countries attach to green transportation and green logistics. Green logistics is an important trend in the development of international logistics. As an important part and driving force of green logistics, Full Truck Group links up with upstream and downstream partners in the industrial chain such as finance, automotive aftermarket, and new energy vehicles to build and share the "green logistics +" service system, and cooperates with upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain and truck drivers to participate in energy conservation and carbon reduction.
Tasneem Essop, Executive Director of the International Climate Action Network, expressed strong interest in the Full Truck Group to build a green credit system based on carbon accounts. She pointed out that this is a sustainable green financial system and service model that is in line with the long-term goal of carbon neutrality, which allows the international community to see the importance and investment of Chinese enterprises and people in carbon emission reduction actions. It has a very important reference value for the global transportation industry to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
Guo Kai, Operations Director of the Green and Low-Carbon Business Department of China Classification Society Quality Certification Co., Ltd., said that under the world's largest consensus on carbon neutrality, the upstream and downstream institutions, enterprises and individuals of China's transportation industry chain are actively linked together, which will fully release the leverage of innovative technology for energy conservation and carbon reduction, hand over a new answer sheet for the sustainable development of China's transportation industry, and help China and even the world to achieve carbon peak in the transportation sector as soon as possible.
Wang Boyong, Director of the Smart Freight Center and Secretary-General of the Zero Emission Freight Initiative, believes that there are many participants in China's road freight transport, the maturity and economic feasibility of green and low-carbon technologies need to be improved, and the green transformation is facing challenges. He suggested that upstream shippers in the supply chain should be fully mobilized to gradually realize the low-carbon transformation of the industry by purchasing and cultivating smart, green and efficient transportation capacity with logistics and transportation service providers and logistics partners. The first is to calculate and report carbon reduction results and set carbon emission targets through green freight purchasers, and the second is to work with industry ecological partners to improve the efficiency of transportation organizations through green finance to empower the promotion of carbon reduction technologies and green behavior incentives, and to adopt and promote low-carbon energy vehicles and low-carbon solutions to reduce carbon emissions in the supply chain. This requires companies to adopt a common standard for calculating and reporting logistics carbon emissions, and work together to establish a zero-emission partnership to jointly promote the transition to zero-emission and efficient freight.
