On September 19, the signing ceremony of the cooperation between CNOOC Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CNOCC) and the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the Shenzhen Advanced Institute) and the unveiling ceremony of the joint laboratory for cross-innovation of carbon neutrality and food security was held in Beijing. Yu Jin, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy General Manager of CNOOC, attended the ceremony and unveiled the joint laboratory. Hou Xiaofeng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, CEO and President of China Shipping Chemical, and Zheng Hairong, Vice President of Shenzhen Advanced Institute, signed a cooperation agreement.
At the signing and unveiling ceremony, the two parties announced that they would jointly carry out the first joint R&D project - "Creation of microbial reactor and its research on CO₂ starch production" based on the joint laboratory. This project is a pilot project of China Shipping Chemical to promote green and low-carbon biochemical industry, relying on the company's own production capacity for many years and leveraging the major breakthroughs made by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in the field of biochemical engineering. Among them, once the key core technology of the strain is broken through, it will broaden and extend the territory of the carbon one chemical industry based on methanol/conversion and utilization, and combined with the development of upstream and downstream technologies, it is expected to solve the two major propositions of the times of large-scale CO₂ consumption and national food security.
In the next step, the joint laboratory will focus on the major cutting-edge technologies, key core technologies and common technologies of the biological industry of CO₂ and methanol, and cultivate a number of major achievements in scientific and technological innovation as soon as possible.
