The Xi'an Consensus of the National Alliance for Cultivating Carbon Neutral Talents in Colleges and Universities was released

July 12 is the 11th "National Low Carbon Day". On the same day, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Shaanxi Provincial Government jointly held the main event of the 2023 "National Low Carbon Day" in Xi'an. At the event, the National University Carbon Neutral Talent Training Alliance, jointly initiated by Northwest University and other universities, issued the Xi'an Consensus on "Shouldering Responsibility, Acting Together, and Working Together to Respond to Climate Change", including adhering to the concept of serving the overall situation, strengthening interdisciplinary integration, accelerating the collaborative education of science and education, deepening the integration of industry and education, promoting the integrated development of schools and localities, jointly deepening international cooperation, and advocating green and low-carbon life.

Relevant officials from Tongji University, China University of Petroleum (Beijing), Beijing University of Technology, Zhejiang A&F University, Fujian Normal University, Zhengzhou University, Xi'an Shiyou University, Linyi University and Northwest University signed the consensus. The consensus pointed out that universities are the source of talent training, thought leadership and scientific and technological innovation, and play an irreplaceable role in the process of achieving the country's carbon neutrality goal. The National Alliance for Cultivating Carbon Neutral Talents in Colleges and Universities will take this low-carbon day as an opportunity to focus on national strategies and local economic and social needs, give full play to the respective advantages of the alliance universities, and form a joint force in actively responding to climate change and promoting green and low-carbon development.

In this main event, Northwest University and the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation jointly hosted the theme of "Local Green and Low-Carbon Development". More than 300 representatives from the national ecological environment system, low-carbon cities, universities, enterprises and institutions attended the event.

The theme publicity activity adopts the model of "mayor + president", aiming to exchange typical experiences and practices in responding to climate change and accelerating local green and low-carbon development, and explore new ideas, new concepts and new mechanisms for building collaborative innovation and high-quality development between cities and universities. Focusing on the themes of "Local Practice" and "Exploration and Innovation", experts and representatives from the National Center for Climate Strategy, Ganzhou, Jinan, Chongqing, Yan'an, Tongji University, Zhengzhou University, Northwest University and Fujian Normal University shared their views on the theme.
