Quanzhou, Fujian Province, will create another 20 pilot low-carbon communities this year

Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, recently announced the list of 20 low-carbon community pilot demonstration construction objects in the city in 2023.

On the basis of the creation of 20 low-carbon communities (parks, scenic spots) last year, this year, Quanzhou will continue to carry out low-carbon pilot demonstration construction work in the city, explore the establishment of a low-carbon development mechanism guided by the government, social coordination, and the main body of the public, and form a number of low-carbon pilot demonstration development experience that is adapted to local conditions and has distinctive characteristics, which can be replicated, promoted and used for reference, and strives for national and provincial low-carbon pilot demonstrations.

Since the launch of the low-carbon pilot project in 2020, Quanzhou has taken the creation of low-carbon communities as an important starting point for carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and has carried out the creation work from four aspects: guiding the whole process of community construction with a low-carbon concept, actively cultivating a low-carbon culture and low-carbon lifestyle, strengthening the construction of low-carbon projects and upgrading and transformation of low-carbon facilities, and creating a beautiful and livable community living environment. For example, the Huanan community carried out the selection activity of "Protecting World Heritage and Top Ten Low-carbon Families", selecting 10 low-carbon and energy-saving families and commending them, so as to encourage more residents to participate in low-carbon activities; Dong'an Village has established a demonstration site for solar photovoltaic power generation systems, set up energy-saving facilities such as solar street lights, promoted the use of clean energy, and reduced carbon dioxide emissions; Fenghuang Community has strengthened the construction of low-carbon living facilities, added 52 intelligent charging facilities for electric vehicles and 3 community garbage sorting kiosks, and cultivated good habits of electricity and energy consumption and garbage sorting among residents.

As a cell unit of urban and rural areas, community carbon reduction is one of the most basic application scenarios to achieve the goal of "carbon neutrality". Quanzhou advocates the concept of "low-carbon environmental protection, green life", takes positive actions and mobilizes all sectors of society to participate, guides citizens to practice green life, builds a better home, and makes joint efforts from multiple departments to integrate the low-carbon concept into the renovation of old communities and infrastructure construction, so as to effectively improve the living environment of the community.
