Zhejiang Haiyan helps the fastener industry actively respond to EU carbon tariffs

Recently, the Haiyan Branch of Ecological Environment of Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province (hereinafter referred to as the Haiyan Branch), together with the County Bureau of Commerce, the County Economic and Information Bureau, the Zhejiang Fastener Industry Association and other departments and groups, jointly held the "Haiyan Fastener Industry Coping with the Impact of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Tax (hereinafter referred to as the Carbon Tariff) and Responding to the Special Training Meeting".

The main purpose of this training is to help guide the fastener enterprises exported to the EU in the county to actively respond to the challenges brought by the "EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism" (CBAM), help relevant enterprises to be familiar with the rules, take the initiative to respond, grasp the opportunities, and promote the green and low-carbon development of enterprises while making a smooth transition.

At the meeting, experts from inside and outside the province gave in-depth explanations on the interpretation of CBAM, the later policy trend, how to low-carbon transformation of enterprises and the filling of CBAM statements in the transition stage, and the participating enterprises also actively participated in the discussion.

During the training, Xu Haihua, deputy director of Haiyan Branch, made a special speech, hoping that enterprises can actively respond, accelerate transformation and low-carbon development.

Pay attention to the situation and accelerate the low-carbon transition. The Haiyan branch requires enterprises to take advantage of the external pressure caused by the implementation of EU carbon tariffs to resolve risks with high-quality development. All enterprises should combine their own resources, combined with the learning and exchange meetings organized by the government, digest the policies, regulations and implementation rules related to EU carbon tariffs, find out the technical background as soon as possible, explore green processes, reduce direct emissions in the production process, accelerate the pace of low-carbon transformation and upgrading, and carry out research on collaborative projects for pollution reduction and carbon reduction.

Integrate into the market and accelerate carbon sink trading. At present, Jiaxing is carrying out carbon inclusive certification and emission reduction and carbon inclusive trading, and the Jiaxing carbon inclusive trading platform will also be launched in the near future. The Haiyan Branch is carrying out research to explore methodological research with county characteristics and industrial advantages. Enterprises should integrate into the carbon market as soon as possible, seize the opportunity, and grasp the right to speak on carbon in their own industries.

Optimize the structure and reduce export dependence. At present, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Bureau of Statistics have jointly issued the "Implementation Plan for Accelerating the Establishment of a Unified and Standardized Carbon Emission Statistical Accounting System". Haiyan County promotes key enterprises to aim at the world's advanced level, strengthens the cooperation and innovation of carbon reduction, zero carbon and negative carbon technologies and the introduction of green and low-carbon technologies, and promotes the county to achieve new advantages in the international competition of carbon emission reduction.
