From May 23rd to 25th, the 2nd Petrochemical Green Development Forum and the Annual Meeting of the Petrochemical Special Committee of the China Chemical Environmental Protection Association held in Quanzhou, Fujian Province proposed that in the immediate future, it is necessary to step up technological transformation and upgrading to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, and pave the green background for high-quality development; In the long run, to achieve the "dual carbon" goal, we must seize development opportunities and develop disruptive technologies to open up new economic growth poles.

Zhou Xianhui, chairman of the China Chemical Environmental Protection Association, said that there is still a gap between China's petrochemical industry and the world's leading petrochemical power in terms of industrial structure, technological innovation, green and low-carbon level and the number of advantageous enterprises. The petrochemical industry should promote the upgrading of industrial structure with high-end, eliminate environmental pollution with clean production, promote the energy revolution with low-carbon transformation, achieve resource conservation and utilization with recycling transformation, and lead high-quality development with digital transformation, and strive to promote the comprehensive green transformation of the industry.

"On the one hand, the green transformation is reconstructing the traditional production model characterized by the low-cost advantage of factors, and promoting the high-end, intelligent and green upgrading of the industry will bring new growth points. On the other hand, the demand for green upgrading and green consumption of China's traditional industries will give birth to a huge green market. The relevant person in charge of the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology suggested that the petrochemical industry should not only actively promote the transformation and optimization of front-end production technology, but also promote the implementation of green manufacturing projects at the terminal to continuously improve the "green content".

The grading of environmental performance of key industries in heavily polluted weather is a pollution reduction and carbon reduction work that the state attaches great importance to. According to reports, at present, the proportion of A-level enterprises with environmental performance in the petrochemical industry is about 4%, which is relatively low.

"The petrochemical industry should fully realize the importance of carrying out performance grading and grade improvement, take the initiative to connect with local regulatory authorities, and promote the transformation of environmental governance from treating the symptoms to the root cause through equipment renovation and transformation, so as to obtain long-term carbon reduction benefits." A relevant comrade from the Department of Atmospheric Environment of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment said that the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has launched a linked policy that enterprises with advanced environmental performance can reduce or be exempted from first-level inspections during the early warning period of heavily polluted weather. This is a rare opportunity for the petrochemical industry to promote the green transformation of its development mode, and the leading enterprises in the industry should actively play a leading role in driving the whole industry to improve its performance level.

For the trend and demand of green development in the future, Ren Hongqiang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and dean of the School of Environment of Nanjing University, said that ecological environmental protection is entering a period of highly integrated development of "technology + standard + industry", and the petrochemical industry should focus on developing original and disruptive low-carbon technologies to promote the green transformation of development mode, continuously improve the green development standard system, and coordinate the promotion of pollution reduction, carbon reduction, green expansion and growth.

Fu Pengbo, an associate professor at the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering of East China University of Science and Technology, believes that technologies such as "green power + biomass", green electrochemistry, zero-oil refining and chemical integration, and resource recycling and reuse will help the petrochemical industry build a clean, recycling, and green metabolism full life cycle development model, and have great potential to promote the industry to achieve carbon neutrality.

Zhang Qinghai, deputy director of the Management Committee of Quanhui Petrochemical Industrial Park, and Yuan Zhongquan, assistant general manager and HSE director of Sinochem Energy Co., Ltd., attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

The meeting was hosted by China Chemical Environmental Protection Association and Sinochem Energy Co., Ltd., and undertaken by the Petrochemical Committee of China Chemical Environmental Protection Association and Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical Co., Ltd.
