Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, September 21 (Reporter Tai Sicong Zhang Xiao) On the morning of the 21st, Gao Peng, vice mayor of Beijing, made a report on the development of green transportation to the fifth meeting of the Standing Committee of the 16th Beijing Municipal People's Congress, saying that Beijing adheres to the principle of "slow traffic priority, bus priority, and green priority" to further promote the development of green transportation. At present, the total mileage of the city's rail transit lines reaches 1,172 kilometers, ranking first in the country.

Gao Peng said that in recent years, Beijing has focused on the optimization of the "three major structures" of travel structure, energy structure and transportation structure, and built a comprehensive, green, safe and intelligent three-dimensional and modern urban transportation system. In 2022, Beijing was awarded the first batch of "Green Travel Creation Cities" in China, and citizens' sense of identity, gain, happiness and security for green travel continued to improve, and the average annual growth rate of urban transport carbon emissions dropped from 6% during the 12th Five-Year Plan period to 4% during the 13th Five-Year Plan period.

In terms of rail transit, the total mileage of the city's rail transit lines is 1,172 kilometers, including 27 urban rail transit lines and 807 kilometers, and 4 suburban railways with 365 kilometers. In terms of ground public transportation, the city implemented the "Beijing Ground Bus Network Master Plan", reduced the length of duplicate routes by 1,887.6 kilometers, increased the coverage of 461.2 kilometers of bus route network, and vigorously developed customized public transportation, with a total of 598 customized bus lines and an average daily transportation of 42,000 passengers on weekdays. In terms of slow traffic systems, the attractiveness of walking and cycling has further increased, with the proportion of slow trips in the central urban area reaching 47.1% in the first half of 2023.

In addition, Beijing is actively promoting the new energy of industrial vehicles. At present, 94% of the city's ground buses are new energy and clean energy vehicles, and 65% of the city's cruise taxis are pure electric vehicles. In terms of new energy vehicles, Beijing has increased the proportion of new energy indicators in the annual new passenger car index, and the proportion has reached 70% in 2023. By the end of June 2023, Beijing had promoted a total of 692,000 new energy vehicles.

Gao Peng said that in the future, Beijing will continue to promote the integration of multiple networks of the transportation system, strengthen and improve the service level of "seven stations and two fields", and shorten the transfer distance of passengers in and out of the station; Promote the integration of rail and bus, continue to optimize the layout of bus and rail transfer stations in accordance with the 50-meter connection standard, shorten the transfer distance between bus and rail, and at the end of the "14th Five-Year Plan", the proportion of connections within 50 meters will reach 90%; By the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the proportion of green travel in the central urban area reached 76.5%.
