A notebook computer is rolled off the assembly line every 9 seconds, with an annual output of more than 3 million units, and the automation rate of the smart notebook production line reaches 60%, the first in the industry, and the intelligent high-speed patch production line has an automation rate of 80%, of which the automation rate of the paste fragment is as high as 92%, and the component placement speed can reach 172,000 per hour. Yesterday, the Lenovo Group Innovation Industrial Park (Tianjin), which represents the highest level of zero-carbon intelligent manufacturing in the industry, was fully completed, with "green zero-carbon, intelligent manufacturing" as the core positioning, integrating manufacturing, R&D experiments, and digital display, to create a highly automated, comprehensive and intelligent replicable zero-carbon intelligent manufacturing solution.

The industrial park located in the Airport Economic Zone of Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone covers an area of 112,000 square meters, with a total investment of more than 1.8 billion yuan, which will drive the employment of more than 1,000 people in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and produce 3 million computers and intelligent devices annually in the future. Yin Xiaofeng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Management Committee of Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone, said: "The full completion of the park is a milestone in the cooperation between Lenovo and Tianjin. The free trade zone will work with Lenovo Group to focus on the development of strategic emerging industries. ”

"Using a number of advanced intelligent and green technologies such as the Internet of Things, 5G, edge computing, digital twins, and AI, it has integrated nearly 1,000 Lenovo patents, demonstrating the highest level of zero-carbon intelligent manufacturing in the ICT industry," said Guan Wei, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Supply Chain of Lenovo Group.

How to build an "ecological" zero-carbon factory from zero to one? The industrial park has implemented a total of 90 carbon reduction measures in nine areas, including green energy, architectural design, intelligent manufacturing, park management, and digital collaboration, throughout the whole process of park design, planning, construction and operation.

"The main carbon emissions from the manufacturing site come from energy consumption, and the industrial park uses renewable energy to the maximum. The 30,000 square meters of distributed photovoltaic panels laid on the roofs of the three production buildings have a total annual power generation capacity of more than 5 million kWh, which is equivalent to the annual consumption of 2,000 ordinary households and reduces carbon emissions by 3,000 tons for the park. Liu Keyan, senior manager of global manufacturing at Lenovo Group, told reporters that the industrial park pays attention to low-carbon and zero-carbon from the planning, architectural design and other stages. For example, the park has introduced rainwater storage and reclaimed water systems, saving more than 25,000 tons of fresh water per year, and using geothermal energy to adjust the temperature of the fresh air system through heat exchangers, which can save 50% of energy compared with heating and cooling. Lenovo Group's self-developed factory ESG solution realizes data visualization, traceability and compliance management through digitalization and information technology, helping factories monitor energy use, thereby reducing energy consumption and reducing comprehensive energy consumption by 5% to 10%.

According to comprehensive calculations, the annual carbon emissions of the park are about 12,000 tons, and the carbon emissions of the plant will be completed after the carbon emissions are determined through digital means and a set of carbon reduction combinations (including top-level design, self-carbon reduction, photovoltaic erection, and green power supply) are adopted. Among them, self-emission reduction and green power and green energy account for more than 90%, reaching the industry-leading level.

Lenovo Group has fully realized fully automatic and unmanned in some important links in production, reaching the industry-leading level. In the notebook production line test section, the fully automatic test system independently developed by Lenovo Group can test more than 150 items in 8 categories within 2 hours, and the whole process can be 100% black. The industrial park has widely applied automation and intelligent technologies, and has continued to use and upgrade multiple digital systems developed by Lenovo Group, increasing the overall production efficiency by 200% and reducing the defective rate by 30%.

In addition to the smart factory, the industrial park has built the industry's highest level of zero-carbon black light intelligent three-dimensional warehouse, which looks like a "steel forest". The warehouse applies 43 intelligent technologies such as 5G, digital twin, and visual recognition, saving more than 70% of the storage space, reducing the cost by 47%, and the picking accuracy is as high as 99.99%. The smart warehouse can fully automate the delivery of materials to the production line and the collection of finished products, and operate normally under dark light conditions.

In the process of building the Tianjin Industrial Park, Lenovo Group participated in the formulation of the first zero-carbon factory standard in the ICT industry, and will also release a white paper on zero-carbon intelligent manufacturing factories, replicating the systematic zero-carbon experience of the industrial park from construction to operation to the world, and jointly building a zero-carbon ecosystem with the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain. "The manufacturing industry must achieve green and zero-carbon transformation and forge sustainable development. Yang Yuanqing, chairman and CEO of Lenovo Group, said that in the future, it will be driven by scientific and technological innovation to the transformation and upgrading of China's manufacturing industry to digital intelligence and zero carbon, and inject strong momentum into the advanced manufacturing industry to accelerate the formation of new quality productivity.
