On October 26, Huang Runqiu, Minister of Ecology and Environment, met with California Governor Gavin Newsom in Beijing. The two sides reviewed the achievements of cooperation in the field of ecology and environment, and conducted in-depth exchanges on further strengthening cooperation on environment and climate.

Huang Runqiu introduced China's work and achievements in the field of ecology and environment in the past decade, spoke highly of the good cooperative relationship formed with California in the field of ecology and environment, and expressed his willingness to jointly implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two sides, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and play a positive role in promoting the healthy development of China-US relations. Huang Runqiu said that he hopes to further expand the areas of cooperation with California, strengthen communication and exchanges in policies, technologies and talents, deepen practical cooperation in air pollution prevention and control, climate change response, carbon market construction and other fields, and jointly promote the process of global environmental and climate governance.
Newsom introduced California's concepts and measures in the field of environment, fully affirmed China's achievements in ecological environmental protection and climate change, and looked forward to further strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China in the construction of carbon market, hydrogen energy and other clean energy development and applications, and jointly addressing environmental and climate challenges.
After the meeting, Huang Runqiu and Newsom attended the Great Wall Climate Dialogue.
