The 5th Russia-China Energy Business Forum was opened

  Beijing, 19 Oct (Xinhua) -- On October 19, the 5th China-Russia Energy Business Forum opened at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Ding Xuexiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the opening ceremony, read President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter and delivered a speech.

  Ding Xuexiang said that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Russia energy cooperation has always maintained a good trend of positive development. As important energy producers and consumers in the world, China and Russia have obvious complementary advantages and great potential for cooperation. The two sides should implement the important consensus of the two heads of state, build a closer energy partnership, promote China-Russia energy cooperation to achieve more new results, and make more new contributions to ensuring global energy security and promoting sustainable energy development.

  Ding Xuexiang put forward three suggestions on deepening Sino-Russian energy cooperation. The first is to solidly promote the interconnection of energy infrastructure, continue to maintain effective communication, and jointly ensure the safe and stable operation of cross-border energy channels. The second is to actively expand new growth points for energy cooperation, strengthen cooperation in emerging fields such as renewable energy, hydrogen energy, energy storage, and carbon markets, and work together to promote the technological revolution and industrial development in the low-carbon field. The third is to continue to deepen cooperation in global energy governance, firmly maintain the open connectivity of the global energy market, and promote the establishment of a fair, just, balanced and inclusive global energy governance system.

  Secretary General of the Russian President's Commission on Energy Development Strategy and Ecological Security and President of Rosneft Sechin read a congratulatory letter from Russian President Vladimir Putin and delivered a speech, and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Novak delivered a speech.

  After the opening ceremony, Ding Xuexiang met with the high-level delegation of the Russian side attending the 5th China-Russia Energy Business Forum.

  The theme of this year's forum is "Building a Closer China-Russia Energy Partnership to Support Global Energy Security and Energy Transition". More than 400 representatives from relevant departments of China and Russia, energy enterprises, financial institutions, research institutions and industry associations attended the opening ceremony of the forum.
